Fussy Baby Advice Needed ASAP, please.

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Fussy Baby Advice Needed ASAP, please.

This advice is for a friend. Her DD is 6 months old and is sleeping really well at night, but during the day she is crying and crying and crying and will not go down to sleep. Mom is very frustrated hearing her baby cry all day long. She finally had to just put her in her crib and leave the room and let her cry.

Does anyone have any pearls of wisdom for her?

She does have a little acid reflux. She has not been taking as much medication. She does Mommy & baby swim lessons--so could water in the ears do anything? She's been eating the same foods, nothing new. Any ideas? My friend is on her own and having a tough time. I suggested maybe a bath to calm her down....I'm at a loss. Maybe an ear infection? But, would she sleep ok at night and cry during the day? Help!

I can't remember but is 6 mos to big for a baby swing? Have your friend try putting the baby in the swing and then tell her to vacuum. The drone of the vacuum sometimes makes them go to sleep.

Is the baby unconsolable? (Is that a word?! LOL!) Bethany had reflux as an infant, didn't nap well and was high maintenance. I could tell if we missed a Zantac dose or if her doses needed to be adjusted (higher as she grew) because nothing would soothe her, not even nursing, which usually did the trick.

Hope she's doing better soon! I *know* how frustrating it is!

Swings work for some (no, 6 months isn't too old, they go by weight, so check the weight!!), slings for others, and car rides are great (worth the gas money!!!) I hope she's feeling better soon!!!

Maybe they need to look at her medication for her reflux or maybe she could be teething?!? I don't know I feel for her, I went through the same thing before we figured out which formula Brendan needed to me on his tummy was so sensitive.

ooops, that would be "formula Brendan needed to BE on; his tummy was so sensitve". :-)

Thanks, everyone. She made it through. She took her for a drive and she finally got some rest and then came home and did her evening routine with no problems. She's going to call her Dr. for a refill on the Zantac. It sounds like that may be what was up. She also has an appt. scheduled in a couple of days. I just kept telling her that we ALL have been there!:)
