Potty Question from You-Know-Who...LOL

Okay wise ones, another question for you: We've been doing serious potty training since last Monday morning. Natalie is doing great. All of her potty times are recorded on a sticker chart, and she has had only one accident each day since then. A few times it was a full blown pee her pants as she was walking to the potty after telling me, and a few times it has been a small drop of pee in her panties. Is this pretty normal after a week? She will be 2 in a couple of weeks. We think she's doing a great job, but I have nothing to compare to. Also, I've noticed since we've started this that she's had 3 dry nap diapers this past week and one dry nighttime diaper (gasp! I could NOT believe it) We've also been out a few times (once for around 2 hrs., it was unexpected) and she had no accidents. I know she's young and I don't expect her to chug down 8oz. and be able to hold it for too long once she decides she has to go.
Honestly, Deanna, it sounds perfect. Of course, she's not going to have it down with no accidents after a week but if she's managing most times, is aware of the need (even if she doesn't quite make it) and is now staying dry while sleeping, you've got it made. Don't worry if she does regress a bit if she gets overly tired or just gets in a mood but I think you've got this in the bag!
Well, I think she's doing great! Jen was not potty trained at age 2. :-(
I think it sounds great. Really it will just take some time for you to adjust to it. When they are young like this, time isn't the same for them, she doesn't realize how long it actually takes to get to the potty. You are doing a good job, so is natalie...keep it up! Beware in about a week or two expect a couple of BAD days. I am not sure why, but all of my kids and friends kids at right at 2-3 weeks they had a quick little back slide. Hang in there, keep encouraging and then you will be home free!
Thanks for the words of encouragement and warnings on setbacks, too. Now I'll know what to look for in the coming weeks. You don't know how much I appreciate it!
To echo the others... Sounds like she's doing great! Don't be surprised if it takes several months before she is *totally* trained. It's not unusual for kids to have set backs. It's also not uncommon for some kids not to be able to stay dry all night until 8 or 9 yrs. old. When talking with other parents about potty training, remember that all kids are different. I started potty training both my kids at 2. DS wasn't day trained until 4 and wore Good Nights until 7. In hind sight, I think we pressured him too much. With DD we took a much more laid back approach and she was totally trained, night and day, before she turned 3.
You girls are doing GREAT!!! Wow!! One night being dry already, thats fantastic!!!.The night time training took a little bit longer than the daytime for us.Potty training before 2 is a huge success.I think Katie was trained at 2yrs 7mths and we had success. We didn't have any setbacks either.Once she was dry all night it stayed that way.It sounds like Nats has figured it out.Way to go girls!!!!^5
Thanks for the reminders Trina, regarding setbacks. I don't even PLAN to go with panties at night for quite some time. I've just noticed those dry diapers and have been VERY surprised to say the least! I would imagine that the later you start, the less chance for setbacks maybe?? I'm planning on her to have setbacks so I won't be discouraged! (Now that I have some veteran wisdom to go on!) We were at my sister's today and the park for about 3 hours and she did wonderfully! No leaks or accidents. We just made sure to go before going anywhere and when we arrived home. She did well with that, and seems to think it's cool that there are "potties" wherever we go!!
Wow! She's doing great. Keep up the good work. We are going to start training Julianna next week and hopefully it will go as well as Natalie's training went. lol
