Sports Camps

Randy brought home a flyer yesterday for a football camp. It's one week, M-F, three hours a day, located about 1/2 hour from us. It cost $199 or $184 each if you have more than one child. That'd be $368 for both the boys to go. I think that's outrageous! Maybe I'm just out of touch. Do any of your kids participate in these kinds of camps and are they worth it? Neither boy has played football before but they both want to this year. What do you think?
Waaaaay overpriced. NINE hours of group instruction for $199? NO way!
It depends on what they are teaching them and how muchthe boys that are going alreay know. It could be for experienced kids and they are teaching them more than just fundamentals.
That is expensive. It works out to $12/hr per child.I'd be hesitant b/c they've never played it before. What happens if they don't like it?If they already played and want to learn something new...Maybe.I just think that's alot of money to try something new.JMO Are there any day camps around where there would be more activities involved??Maybe something new to try each day.
Cat, that is outrageous! I posted awhile back that my oldest wants to play football this fall. The league has a camp for a week in July. I signed him up, so he can see if he likes it before I sign him up for the season. His camp is Mon-Thurs for 2 hours a day, and it is $50.00.
My DS is doing a football camp this summer for a week, 3 hours a day and it was $25. My DD pitching coach is $15 an hour and that is one on one innstruction with a former professional ball player. That price you stated is outrageous for a football camp.
Oops, I read your post as it being Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, which is why I stated nine hours of instruction. I didn't notice it was Monday THRU Friday. My math is bad, but not THAT bad! LOL!
Lol, Kate! Nine hours or 15 hours, it's still a lot! I talked to dh and he thinks that's WAY too much (we agreed on something! lol). I'm going to check with the local high school to see if they're doing something. The big pull for the boys with this one was there are going to be pro players there. Here's a link to exactly who's going to be there and what it is. It's be nice, but that's still a lot of money. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks that. Thanx, all.
Our church sports camp is the same amount of days and hours and it's $60.00 per child.
Well I don't know any of those names as I know nothing about football, but I do understand the price a bit more now that I see it's coached by pros. That does make a difference. However, do boys your sons' ages really need such instruction? I'd have to say not. Good luck finding something more low key and less expensive!
They offered a camp like that when I was younger, but it was for high school kids (my brother went) I think that is outrageous for kids of that age!
Cat, the older my kids get the more intense the camps become and the more expensive they get! ;)
Milwaukee Wave Camps They come to Sheboygan, the last week in June. These are pretty pricey, too! They are similar in price, except for the overnight one, which is way more expensive. My friends sent their daughter to this camp, more than once.
The local soccer league camps are only $30, but probably don't have pros coming to them. SAYSO Soccer Camps Green Bay Packers Youth Football Camps Half-day camp is $225 for 3.5 hours M-F (17.5 hours) Full-day camp is $295 for 6 hours M-F (30 hours)
