I've been wondering about harnesses also! I would like to get one for our zoo and museum trips, but I didn't know if some are better than others. Jewlz - I'm glad you asked!

My sister uses one that she got at Walmart. Just prepare her for the comments that she will recieve. My nephew is autistic and this has been very helpful when we went to Disney, a parade ect... But some people were very rude about it. We just kind of thought gee if you want to try and handle him with out it be my guest LOL!

I have both that Trina posted & liked them boht. YOu do get some looks, some chuckles & some comments, but keeping my child safe is more important than what others think. I also don't think the looks are any different than the ones you get when they are running around.

I used a harness on my older daughter after her little siblings came along. It was great for airports, parades, malls, etc. It lets the child have some freedom and does give mom a sense of peace. I liked the body harness and not the wrist one.

The only people that said negative things were young people without children! Older people and seasoned moms oftened smiled and said "I wish I had one of those when my kids were younger!"

I didn't give two thoughts about the negative comments. I was keeping my child safe and enjoying a day out in peace. :)

My 2 year old ds ran away from the dr exam room while I was busy changing his brother's diaper. I could not find him anywhere. We did the whole close down the doors and call security, etc. A nurse from a station down at the end found him. He was not distressed at all. You can only imagine how I was! The nurses (ALL OF THEM!) told me to get a harness. They used them for their own kids. After that incident you can bet I take it with me EVERYWHERE! My mil actually got it for us, from Safety First. It's a body one that can also be used on the wrist, but I don't think I would use it on his little wrist.

Oh, and my ds knows that his harness is to help keep him safe. Right before I put it on him I say, OK, D, let's put your harness on you so you can be safe. And we have no problems.

When I was a toddler, my mom used a body harness on me, and I loved it! I didn't have to ride in a cart or hold anyone's hand that way.

When I was 2, I wore it at Disneyland, and we got a picture of Pluto holding my "leash." I thought it was hilarious that the doggy was "walking" me!

We used a harness for my little boy when he was younger. Especially at amusement/theme parks. It was wonderful. We didn't get any negative comments. All of the comments were "wow, that is the neatest thing" "wish I would have had one of those when my kids were little" "it's nice to see parents that are paying attention to their kids".

We had the safety first harness.

I used one wtih my daughter, they may have had these kinds out but not that I knew of. I simply had a wrist band one , that attached to both of our arms with velcro and had a coil in between(dollar store) and it was very useful. at first I got looks like what is she doing, omg, adn others, ubt after a while I had poeple sayign to me what a wonderful idea where did you get that, I would like to get one.

But iI like the animal backpack one. Does anyone know? Its says to oder and get a second animal free , does that mean the entire backpack.

By Reds9298 on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 - 09:21 am:

You can also get those backpack ones at Target for $9.99. They have a bear and a dog at our Target. I think that's what I'm going to end up getting.

I saw the animal ones at Wal-mart and they're very cute.I will have to invest in 3 of them.I think on purpose they will probably try to tangle mommy up in them and take off.LOL

By Mrsheidi on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 - 01:04 pm:

Deanna, I tried looking on the Target website but couldn't find it. Is it only local?

By Jewlz on Saturday, April 29, 2006 - 11:50 am:

u dont get it free u get the shipping free ... after ordering it wer figured it out for my aunt ... i think its poor advertising in my opinion.

By Reds9298 on Saturday, April 29, 2006 - 02:26 pm:

Sorry Heidi - I just checked back in with this! I guess maybe it is only in my local Target if you didn't see it online. They're the only ones they offer at my Target, I can't even find one at our Walmart.
