* Magnetix Warning *

This is not the first warning on these. Parents are warned about the toy Magnetix
Thanks for the warning. I did see a story about the 22 month before too. My ds and nephews have magnetix so this warning is very important to me!
If you live in a home where there are no small kids or pets that eat things, these are wonderful building toys. My son, who is 8, loves his sets. I like playing with them, too. I would hate for these sets to get a bad reputation because a few kids, who shouldn't have had access to them in the first place, swallowed them. I believe the age on the box stated 8+. However if you do live in home with small kids/ pets that eat things than stay away from them. Like Legos they are can be found everywhere on the floor, etc and the magnets along with the small balls, are a huge choking hazard....along with the danger of the magnets sticking together, as the above article stated.
They showed a box on the news tonight, that said it was okay for 3-100, but I think that 3 is almost too young for them, myself.
On our box, they say for ages 3-100. Then they have a warning that says choking hazard for children under age 3. I really think that they need to change the age on the box. And the warnings. But, as with a lot of toys, I think they are a lot of fun for the correct age group. We have them and our children love them. Then again, we have had them for years, and Ashton is only 6 now. But our children have never been bad to put toys in their mouths or noses, or ears or anything. You need to know your child. And watch your child. My nephew is 6 and when he came to visit, we had to put the Magnetix up. Not because he would eat them. But because he had a brain tumor when he was young and now has a shunt controlled by a magnet. These magnets are so strong, they could effect the shunt, so he can't play with them. We know that, so we put them up. But we aren't going to sue the company to stop making them because they could do serious damage to him if he plays with them. He's one child. Everyone needs to be aware that these magnets are very strong, but shouldn't they keep the toys away from children who are apt to put them in their mouths in the first place because of the choking hazard, with or without the magnet?
I agree with you, Luvn29. The kid that died, looked like he was way too young for something like that.
Thank you Trina
I don't know why they are not recalled and redesigned. Why can't they make them so that the magnet is enclosed fully in plastic? It will still stick - obvioulsy. My son got these for his birthday. I have yet to open them. I don't think I will. Ame
