HE SLEPT THRU THE NIGHT!
Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: HE SLEPT THRU THE NIGHT!
OMG finally, after 5 long months Cameron slept through the night. For a week I have been keeping him to a tight schedule and it paid off. I didn't sleep, I kept waking up wondering why he wasn't waking up, but I still feel much more rested as I didn't have him in my bed all night long. Things have improved so much over the past week I even have my DH back in our bed. Just wanted to share my good news!
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!! I SO remember that feeling.
Great news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Super! And now you can get your well deserved sleep. BTW did you go to the Dr? What advice did he give you? Oh and how long did Cameron sleep? People seem to have different opinions on what sleeping through the night is.
That's REALLY GREAT! What a wonderful feeling!
WooHoo thats great
Thanks! Alyssa, I went to the doctor and he suggested I put Cameron on cereal for his last feeding of the night. So now I give him 4 tablespoons of cereal at 7:00 pm. He loves it. I was going to wait until he was 6 months, but this child is the size of a 9 month old. I also found this and followed their suggestions: Eliminating Nighttime Feedings I followed this program fairly closely but I did not wake him at 10 pm to nurse. I gave him the cereal at 7 pm instead. He slept from 8:30 pm until 5:00 am this morning. Now that's sleeping through the night! I'm excited can't ya tell. Keep your fingers crossed for me that this is a new start to a good thing.
That's great!
I'll have to check into it too. I've been trying to hold out for 6 months too. Do you feed him the cereal with a spoon or a bottle? Just wondering in case I start with Eli. I'm so happy for you! Groove
Never with a bottle, it's a choking hazard. I know a lot of people did this but I won't. I buy a German cereal called Milupa, I love it, it takes better than the others. Start with rice cereal or stage 1 cereal. I boil my water for 5 minutes then mix it in a bowl with the cereal usually the same amount of water to cereal. Start with 2 tablespoons and work up to 4. At first make it really runny and he probably won't eat it to begin with, he has to get used to pushing it around in his mouth and swallowing differently. Within a few days increase the amount to 3 tablespoons and make it thicker. You'll find by the end of the feeding that it gets runny anyway as the baby's saliva dilutes the cereal. You'll know when he's ready to eat by watching him. Cameron has been watching me eat quite intently for about a month now, when they start to take interest in what you are eating it's a good time to start thinking about putting them on cereal. I would just check with your doctor before starting if it's before 6 months.
Thanks a lot! My Dr. said I could start him on it but I've been scared. I know what you're saying about the baby looking at you when you're eating. He's already very excited to see us put food in our mouths.
I started Sarah on cereal at 5 months. She was more than ready!
