Sick kids and water parks
Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Sick kids and water parks
One of the ladies I work with at school has 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren. The 2 daughters planned a trip to Wisconsin Dells, to stay in a hotel for a few days and go to the indoor water park. Not sure if it's the Kalihari, or not. I didn't ask (has an indoor water park). The 2 yo granddaughter woke up this morning, with 102 degree fever. They still went. Would you have kept your child home, despite the trip being planned, or what? I don't think I would have taken my kid on the trip. Anytime my kids have had that kind of fever, they were like blobs, wouldn't have wanted to play. Apparently the other daughter's kids had hand-foot-and-mouth disease and still went to a waterpark, too. I think HFM is very contagious. So, now I'm totally grossed out by water parks! LOL! I don't think they should go if kids are sick, because they could get other people sick, who are visiting the water park. I was shocked, when she told her daughters were still going on the trip. (The HFM disease was a different time!)
I would never take a child with 102 temp anywhere except the doctors office.
That pretty much sums up how I feel about it. My co-worker says, "She probably just has a cold." Anytime my kids had a temp like that, though, I don't think it was just a cold, and I wouldn't have taken them on a trip!
I also wouldn't have taken them, to bad if the trip had to be cancelled.
I know. Stuff happens sometimes!
that's awful. My kids are so tired and don't even want to play with toys when they have fevers, let alone go to a water park. I wouldn't think the kids would have any fun if they are sick, plus being so active (if they are) and playing in the water would make them even more sick. Not to mention the fact that they would be passing thier sickness on to other kids.
