My granddaughter slept 7 hours last night

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: My granddaughter slept 7 hours last night

and my dil and son are thrilled. She is doing so much better now that she is on the soy formula - eating more, more time between eating sessions, and last night was a joy to Greg & Lori. I spent several hours with her today, and she really is smiling, and starting to coo a bit. She was 8 weeks old yesterday, and now weighs 10 pounds and change. It was a really nice visit. And my dil was out shopping when I got there, so I was able to have some one-on-one time with my son, as well as holding and babbling at my beautiful granddaughter.

It sounds like a marvelous visit and she sounds like she's settling in nicely. I miss those little cooing sounds. :( She sounds like a real sweetheart!

It makes me smile to read about your great visit. So happy she's doing well. Did you get a pic of her smiling at grandma? :).

I thought Sarah's first night of a 7-hour sleep was heavenly! She was about 8 weeks old, when it happened, too!

I agree witht he first night of 7 hours straight sleep. When I awoke the next morning and saw what time it was I panicked and ran to the babys bedroom and picked her up and to see if she was still alive. Today I laugh about it but I was young and scared of taking care of a lil baby alone. ( i mean no family around)

That is an important milestone! I remember when my first born slept a 6-7 hour stretch. It was the night before my first day back at work at 8 weeks of age. Bless him! I did wake up in a puddle of milk though because I was used to nursing more often--LOL.

Ginny sounds like you had a great visit!! So happy for you!! I am glad Greg & Lori got some well deserved rest! I bet it was great to be with Greg and your granddaughter for one on one time:)

It was a great visit. She likes cuddling with her grandma and dozed off several times on my shoulder. And smiled and cooed at me a lot.

It was especially good, Kate, because I wanted to talk to my son and NOT my dil about something they both need to be aware of. My son already knows depression gallops in my family. But I wanted to tell him that not only one of his brothers, but two of my brother's sons and my brother's grandson all had learning disabilities. With special-ed help they were all able to overcome them, but it is something Brooke's parents need to have in the back of their minds to keep an eye on, and this is really not a conversation I wanted to have with my dil - your child may have learning problems inherited from my family. Greg had already known about his brother, of course, and had it in his mind to be alert, but didn't know about his cousins. Not my favorite conversation, but a necessary one.

:) You're such a good mom and grandma, Ginny. I enjoy you! (Are you looking to adopt any adult children? LOL I wish you were my mom...)
