Toddlers & Clothing

Is it just me? Matthew has a pair of pants that have zippers on the legs and you can make them into shorts. All summer he wore these shorts and they were getting too small in the belly area.

I was kind of sad to see them go because they were cute. In the fall I zipped the bottoms back on to make them into pants. Well today he wore them and the are falling off. I'm constantly pulling his pants up. BTW how do you get their pants to stay up?

All his pants seem to be too big now. I guess he's losing his baby fat, growing taller and thinning out.

Do you find your toddler's clothing lasting longer than it used to?

I find his shirts are getting to short though, stuff I used to have to roll up is too short and his belly is hanging out of his pjs.

I have yet to find a pair of jeans that will stay up on my dd. She is three, and same problem, she's lost the baby fat and is tall and lean! Even with a little belt, they fall down. Poor thing, she must pull them up all the time. So I end up putting sweat pants on her a lot this time of year. I think she has a pair in just about every color! And yes, her clothing is lasting longer. I think her growth spurt has stopped for awhile.

I used suspenders - both when I was a kid, because I was skinny, and with my children. Or elastic waist pants, if they fit well enough.

I remember my dear mother put buttonholes on my blouses just at the waist, and buttons on the inside of my skirt waistbands - it was that or suspenders, from the time I started school until about 6th grade.

For jeans, how about a braided colored braided rope type belt?

My kids are all older, but they still have this problem. I have to buy pants at the Gap and Lands End because they offer pants with adjustable waists. I am not sure if they offer that in the small sizes, though.

The only problem I had with toddler clothing was finding pants that would fit my daughter's J-lo booty! She has always had a shape! The Gap and Lands End offer a wide variety of sizes.

I love how a kid has a growth spurt overnight, especially when you went shopping earlier in the week. :)

OMG Kiki, I have the same problem with my DD! She's four and her butt is bulging out of her size 6 pants. Granted, she is very tall for her age. People always think she's 6 years old. But that butt!!!! Finding pants with a waist that stays up! And what's with these ultra low riders that hardly cover her butt. I can understand for teenagers, but why make them in these "baby" sizes! Just not appropriate (not to mention completely unacceptable for my daughter's butt!!!) :)

And, yes, these growth spurts... I bought her sandals in May. Tried them on in the store and everything. She hasn't worn them much, but when I put the on her the other day, her heel is hanging over the back!!! URGGGG!!!! :)
