How long was the longest nap?
Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: How long was the longest nap?
Connor slept in until 9am this morning (2 hours later than normal) and then napped for FIVE hours this afternoon. 12pm-5pm and then went right to bed at 8pm without crying at all. Is he growing or what??? It's too bad I had agreed to watch a neighbor boy at 2:30 since I thought Connor would be up at that time. Wow. What could I do with 5 hours...hhmmm... How long was the longest nap of any of your children? Gosh, I hope he sleeps through the night!!! :-)
Wow a 5 hr a nap. If my kids ever slept too long for naps, it meant they were sick. Apart from being newborns, I wouldnt let my babies take 5 hr naps. If they slept too long, I ALWAYS woke at about 3 hrs.
My boys were sleepers, on occasion they would need a huge nap. Usually it was growing, sometimes it was illness. Honestly yall have been through a lot this week, he is probably worn out! And what you would do with 5 hours...LOL...probably nothing because you would be expecting him to get up any minute! Ah the joys of motherhood.
Sarah took 3 hour naps, on the days that I had off and she wasn't at the daycare. She didn't sleep much at the daycare, so I think she was always catching up. Emily was pretty much a 2-hour napper. Sometimes, I took naps, too, when Sarah was sleeping. At the end of those 3-hour naps, I would be just waiting for her to wake up, though. Okay, long enough now!
My middle one took two two to 3 hour naps a day. One at about 10 in the morning and another at about 2 until she was like two or a little older. She was a sleeper. Of course when she was awake it was nonstop. When she talks to you she bounces up and down the whole time. She is better at 3 years now, but boy those two naps were a godsend.
Natalie sleeps 2-3 hrs. each day. She sleeps 8-7:30 at night. I don't let her sleep more than 3 hours during the day, I'm just afraid she won't sleep at night. Sometimes I have to wake her up at 3 hrs, but usually she gets up on her own. Is he cutting any teeth? Or maybe he is just growing My friend's boy slept 6 hrs. during the day one time (as a toddler) and still slept the whole night like always. It would be nice if you knew ahead of time...what a wonderful time to get things done!!
I think long naps could be due to a lot of things, growing, teething, emotional stress, change of environment etc. I wouldn't worry about it, but I wouldn't let him have a 5 hour nap everyday if you see a pattern emerging. It's probably a combination of things. Matthew's had a long nap the other day - 4 hours and went to bed on time.
Well, I would say that it is likely nothing to get too worked up about, but I also wouldn't be shocked if he is not feeling well within the next couple of days. Once in a blue moon dd would shock me with a longer sleeping time than normal, and I would say about half of those times it was because she was trying to get some sort of bug. But there is nothing you can do to change the outcome!!
Once in a great while my kids would nap for 2 - 3 hours, but any longer and they were coming down with something. I hope that's not the case for you and Conner is fine.
Christopher takes 2-3 hour naps everyday. He gets up at about 8:00am and sits with Dad awhile and then Dad fixes him breakfast. They play and watch TV and Dad does the house stuff and at about 2 or 3:00pm he takes a nap for 2-3 hours and then goes to bed at 9:00pm. He gets grouchy if his sleep is interupted and you have to let him get out of bed on his own because he has to lay there and wake up good before he will get up. He has been known to take longer or shorted naps just depending on what is going on and how he feels.
He went to sleep that night at 8pm without crying and slept all the way until 8 this morning! WOW! And, yes, he has a slight cold. I just think he's growing...he's getting SO heavy!
