High Chair questions
1)When did you stop using your high chair and go to a booster seat? 2)When your kids were in the high chair, did you put their food on a plate or just on the tray? Just wondered! Natalie could sit in a booster seat now, but we've never done too much with a plate. We use suction bowls sometimes on the tray, but not with the plate. I think she needs some more plate experience before we go to the table.
Around 2.5 my girls went to regular kitchen chairs with extra chair cushions on them. I've never served them off the tray, they've always been served off a plate or bowl. All breakable plates/bowls, too. They never pushed them away or threw them or broke any of them.
You know, Natalie's never had the opportunity really! We've just never given her a plate and I don't know why. She's not really messy anyway...I think she'll be fine with it. She would actually do better with a "real" plate because they're heavier!
I just took Matthew out of the high chair, he figured out how to remove the tray with his foot! If you're not paying attention the tray all of a sudden flies across the room. Aggghhh! His big toes were all banged up as well along with his $30 Robez. He would bang his feet on the bottom of the tray. The suction bowls never worked for us as he would figure out how to pick them off the tray and they would end up on the floor. He has just recently started using a plastic plate. I found some at the grocery store they are shaped like animal faces and the ears can be used to hold small bowls or ketchup . Anyway we bought a booster with a tray, it's great, when it gets really grungy I can put the whole thing into the dishwasher as it can be taken appart fairly easily.
Taylor still sits in her Highchair but she uses a Plate, fork and spoon with her meal. She also drinks out of a cup on occasion. I'm not sure when we moved Dylan out of the Highchair, I just can't remember...sorry.
We switched to a booster around two years old. We always used a plate, unless they were just having a snack. We did use plastic plates, bowls, cups, etc. because my kids would occasionally throw the dish off the tray to the floor when they decided they were done eating.
I think Sarah was around 2, or almost 2. I really can't remember.
Thanks everyone...I just wondered Natalie uses a fork and spoon and on occasion a plastic plate. Heaven-we have a booster with a tray too, that we used for traveling and it's great! We will probably switch to that one sometime. Tink- Natalie just puts food on the floor when she's done eating Thank goodness for dogs, LOL.
