He used a UTENSIL!
OMGosh! He actually used a SPOON to eat his own yogurt tonight!!! He has just been playing with it at mealtimes *forever*, a.k.a. 6 months. Yeah! *Insert a moderately embarrassing celebration dance.* It was messy as heck, but hey, I had to let my "inner Monica" inhibitions go for the evening. It took A LOT for me to not wipe his face and hands every 2 seconds. And, for those of you who have been suggesting the "dipping" method to get him to eat, he started to dip his graham crackers into the yogurt!! I told my neighbor I'll give her $50 if she can get Connor to eat meat...I wonder if he'll dip it in a barbeque sauce or ketchup now? Anyone up for the challenge?
Yay, Connor! I just know that my kids were both using spoons well, by two, but can't remember exactly in the 1-2 year, that it started! LOL!
^5 to Connor! Yes, this is a terribly messy stage. I remember feeling the same frustrations, but just had to get over it. LOL! It's part of the learning process.
Hooray for Connor!! Instead of reaching for a napkin, reach for your camera and enjoy the moment. I love looking at my baby's messy face pictures from when they were learning to use utensils.
Great idea, Mel! I have some cute pics of my kids covered with food. One somewhere when DD put a bowl of pasta with sauce on her head. LOL! I almost cried at the time, just thinking about cleaning up the mess, but now it brings back precious memories.
Whoo hoo Connor!!
Yea Connor! We did the same thing, Melanie. LOL, Trina, I've got some neat pics of Helen drenched in tomato sauce from the pasta she was wearing - oh I mean, "eating". Hopefully chicken nugget dipped in BBQ sauce or ketchup will be the next step, Heidi. But don't go looking for it, just have fun with what he's doing now. Ame
WTG Connor! Another milestone!
Yippee!! Yep, do let go and just let him have at it. I feel like the reason my kids don't like cereal (I mean, c;mon, WHO doesn't like cereal?) or soup is because I didn't give it to them enough because of messiness. They also know have these great toddler spoons that have holes in the bowl of the spoon so toddlers can eat cereal, but most of the milk drains out. Great idea!
Taylor Loves using her little fork and spoon, I just think it's so cute. She also LOVES Ketchup, she dip, licks and dips again...too funny! Congratualtions to you and Connor!!!!
