Proud Mama
I've just got to brag on my boys. They got their Jr. Brown Belts tonight in karate. They've been in for almost two years and they still love it. I'm so proud of them and happy that they've got this. It's something they can do for as long as they want. Their instructor has been training for 20+ years. Here's a pic of them with me after class (an hour of sweating and sparing!). I'm a purple belt--I've only been in since August.
You all look great... the boys sure have grown..
Congratulations! They must be so excited!
Gosh Cat, the boys have really grown. Congrats to both of them. You look great too!
YEAH!!! CONGRATS to you ALL!!
^5 to all of you!
Congratulations to your boys!!!! What a great accomplishment!!!
Congrats to you all! You are really giving them a great thing that will last them a lifetime! My FIL was a sen sei and still trains. He's in his 60's and looks like he's in his 40's. Ame
That's great Cat! Good for your boys, and good for you. WHat a great thing to do as a family too. My kids tried karate for 4 weeks and hated it! I don't know why, Now they are in gymnastics and both like that a lot.
Thanx, everyone! Robin's carried his belt with him all day. lol He's already planning jr black belt (that'll take another 20 months!). Ame, I'm hoping this might keep me young! lol Some of the "kids" in the class are bigger than I am. One mom told me one night she thought I was her 13yo dd from behind since we both have the same color hair and both had it up in a pony tail. Her dd's a jr brown belt, though and she said she knew it was me when she saw the white belt. Patti, the boys tried karate about 3 1/2 years ago and didn't like it. We tried it again last February and they love it. I don't know if it was an age thing (they were 6 and 8 the first time, 8 and 10 the second) or if it was the class/instructor. Our instructor is WONDERFUL!!! He's strict, but he's also a lot of fun and just a really good guy. He gets on the kids when he needs to. In the almost 2 years my kids have been in his class he's never had a problem with Robin, and that's really saying something. There are very few people that have ever dealt with Robin on a regular basis that he hasn't caused some trouble with. When I decided to put the kids in the class after a 2 week trial I explained to the instructor that Robin was ADHD and bipolar. He said he'd seen/had kids like that before and it wouldn't be a problem. Robin wasn't even near stable when he started and still didn't have any major problems. I really think this has been great for both the boys, but Robin especially. It teaches them so much more than just self defense. It's been really great.
