Toddler girls and hair
I'm not sure what to do with Natalie's hair. She's 17mths, it's straight and thin. It's getting longer though and pretty uneven across the bangs.I've trimmed a few stray hairs in the bangs area. I've tried barrettes to pull it out of her face, but her hair is so thin that they won't stay in plus she pulls them out really easily. Should I cut her bangs at all? Up to this point I just part it out of her face, but it's getting long for that now in the front. I have this voice in my head from my mother saying You'r enot supposed to cut hair this early....Why am I hearing that? What did you all do? Is it okay to cut her bangs?I don't want them hanging in her face but I don't want them short either. TIA
I started getting Kaitlyn's bangs cut because of the same problem. She still gets them cut now. I don't see why you can't.
Ok so I don't have a little girl, however my neighbour does, she's the same age as Matthew. She left her and didn't cut it for the longest time, it was thin and looked stragley (is that word?). She finally took her to get her hair cut and although it was short it look so much better. Not so thin and messy. I think we all want little girls to look like little girls and long hair does just that, but if it's not looking good I say cut it. BTW my neighbour's little still looked like a girl with short hair. It will grow back and as her hair changes you can start to grow it long if you want to.
Yes, "stragley" Heaventree! It's starting to hang over her ears, too. I don't mind the length in the back, but the other areas are looking that way. I just thought maybe I should stick it out with the hair growing over the ears until it overs them, but I don't know.
I would get it cut, why not?
Getting it cut and shaped really helps to make it look thicker and neater.
I'm with Marcia on this one. It will help to thicken it and will look alot better, too.
I cut Sarah's hair when she was a year old. Hair in the face bugs the heck out of me. I would just get it cut. When Emily was about 2, she got ice cream in her hair, because it kept getting in her food. I cut it short, then. Both of my kids had short hair until about mid-grade school, when both wanted to grow out their bangs. They started taking care of their own hair about that time, and both have longer hair now.
My oldest dd had thin, slightly wavy, straggly hair and we cut it into bangs and started trimming the back (so that the sides would start catching up) when she was Natalie's age. It really made a difference. Beware! She'll look so much older to you once her hair is cut. There's somehing about losing the straggly look that makes them look older.
