Tired Toddler?
Matthew seems very tired these days, he's a year and a half now and I have noticed since the time change that he seems more tired throughout the day and in the early evening. He is a typical toddler and runs around most of the time and is into everything, however at 10:30 this morning he was sitting on the sofa looking very sleepy. He is having a hard time getting through lunch and dinner. Here is his schedule: 6-6:30 am awake, plays quitely in his crib 7-7:30 am up, dressed and having breakfast 11:30-12 lunch 12 afternoon nap sometimes until 3:00 pm 6 pm Dinner 7:30-8 pm bedtime, sleeps through the night Not much has changed in our routine, he only has one activity each week, swimming on Saturday. Most of the time he is at home with me. I have noticed his activity level has increased. Anyway, just wondering if this is typical of the age or time of year for toddlers?
My son didn't give up his morning nap until he was two. He would look for that nap around 10. Have you noticed him being wired or out of control? If not, then I don't think the fatigue is affecting him too much. You know with toddlers that tired=wired . I would sit down with him around 10 and read a few books, or put on the tv and let him zone out for a half hour. Toddlers really need that quiet time to regroup and make sense of the day. Ame
Could it be that he is a bit under the weather? It sounds like he is really getting adequate sleep. Do you listen to a monitor at night? Sometimes my ds won't call for me -but I can hear that he is tossing and turning all night - usually if he is feeling poorly. Amy Mom to 26mo Garrett
He could be having a growth spurt. Is he eating more? I could always tell when my dks were growing because they would eat more and need more sleep.
That's our schedule, except he wakes up at 7am.
I'm thinking either growth spurt, or maybe coming down with something too.
I just wanted to let you know that Natalie is 16mths and her schedule is *very* similar as well. She wakes up between 7 and 7:30 am though and goes to bed at 8pm on the dot and sleeps very well at night. She doesn't nap until 1:30 each day. She rarely seems tired though unless there's been a change in her daily routine for some reason, or I have heard her having a restless night. Ditto Ame on the quiet times, which you probably do anyway.
