My poor little man
Robin had his surgery on his ear this morning to patch the hole the tube left. They took a little piece of fat from the back of his ear and put it on the hole. His ear is packed with cotton that he has to leave in until next Thursday until the doc takes it out, and he has a bandaid over where they took the piece of fat/skin. We left at 6 this morning and got to the hospital (in Parker) at 7:15. They took him back at 9:40 and came and got me at 11:05. He was just waking up. He's in so much pain. He's bumped the ear a couple times and he just cries out in pain and cries. They gave him some tylonal with codine before we left and I just gave him some more. They also gave me an rx for Zythromax. He's finally eating something (bowl of cereal). No karate tonight for him. He has to take it easy for the next week or so and can't get the ear wet. *sigh* He was crying earlier, asking me why we just couldn't cancel this. I don't think any of us expected it to hurt him this much. I sure hope it worked. The doc said it has a 50-60% success rate. We'll see.
Poor guy! I wouldn't have imagined it hurting so much either. I sure hope it starts feeling better soon. Does the tylenol with codeine make him tired? Maybe he can just sleep through the worst of it. Let us know how it all goes.
I'm so sorry he is hurting so much. I hope the meds will give him some relief. So hard for you to see him hurt, I know. I hope tomorrow is much better.
Cat, just be aware that in some people, codeine hypes them up, rather than make them sleepy - it does that to me. It SHOULD help with the pain though! Today and maybe tomorrow should be the worst of it, and he should start to feel a lot better after tomorrow. Hang in there!!!! {{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
Thanx, gals. Karen, the codeine isn't making him hyper. He's actually very calm. He's been an angel today. He wants to sleep up here on the main floor with us (the boys room's are in the basement). We'll have to find somewhere for him. He is feeling a little better tonight, but says it still hurts. Thanx again for all the hugs.
A former co-worker's son had the same surgery, and it worked quite well for him.
AS for a sleeping space, can you just bring his mattress up from his bed for a couple of days?
Ouch. His hearing is good or going to be good? Hope he feels better.
It hurts so much to see your kids hurt. My heart goes out to all of you.
Sorry to hear, Cat! How is he doing?
He's doing a little better today. He slept on the couch (recliner) last night. He said it hurts more to lay flat than sitting up. We're trying regular Tylonal now without the Codeine. That makes him SO groggy. He's been just wonderful through all this. He hasn't been nasty or arguementitive at all. I'm so glad of that, because I know he's in pain and it's tough on him. I have a meeting tonight that I'd love to skip so I can just be here with him, but I really can't since I skipped last month's. Dh will be here and he's been great, too. I do think Randy's feeling a little left out. We'll have to do something special with him. Thanx again for all the thoughts.

I am glad he is feeling better, Cat.
Oh that sounds painful!! I am going to send you an email sometime today!
I'll look for an email, Conni. My email has been giving me problems lately, though. Try this address. cathylizme at falconbroadband dot com Robin's doing much better today. He had regular Tylonal this morning and nothing since. He says it hurts a little bit and of course having it stuffed full of gauze and cotton isn't comfortable, but he's doing pretty well. He is pretty mad at the doctor though. lol Hopefully he will calm down a bit before next Thursday when we go to the follow up appointment. Heidi, his follow up is in Littleton.
ouch! That does sound so painful, especially if he bumps it! I'm glad he is starting to feel a bit better.
Okay, so my email is dot net, not dot com. No wonder it's messed up! lol Yes, I'm a ditz. Robin's doing so much better tonight. He went to karate with us, but didn't participate. He just sat and watched. The instructor told him he needed to be completely better before training again, and not to worry about stripe testing next week, he can make it up next month. Thanx everyone for the hugs and thoughts.
