Broken Leg
My poor little niece got her leg broken this weekend. She is 14 months old. Her mom was carrying her through the yard and she tripped on a phone line and tried to turn so she wouldn't fall on the baby and couldn't so in the process of that she moved just the wrong way and broke the babys leg. The bone is completely broken in 2. She is in a cast from her toes on the left side (broken side) all the way up her leg, across her pelvis and half way down her right leg, with a kind of bar between her legs to hold the broken one on place so that it can heal right. She looks so pitiful. Her mom feels terrible but it was dark and she didn't realize the phone line was there and there was nothing she could have done. She will be in the cast for 4 to 6 weeks. Please say a little prayer for her and her mom. Thanks!!
Awwww poor little girl Thoughts and prayers to all .
OH NO! Poor baby! I hope recovery goes well. Please let us know, Latonya. Your niece will be in my prayers.
That poor little girl & your sister! Tell your sister my leg was broken at a year because my dad put me down with my shoes on, some how I managed to get my foot stuck between the slates & broke my leg. My dad blamed himself for a long time, but other than seeing the cast in pictures, I don't remember it. Freak accidents happen & it isn't her fault.
The dd of a former member broke her leg at 2 and had a similar cast on. Accidents happen and your niece won't remember this. Poor thing. I hope she's up and around again soon.
That's a hip spica cast. Poor thing! I think they don't want that injured leg to move at all! Can't be fun diapering a kid with a cast on, though.
Poor baby!!! My nephew tried to climb on a bookcase when he was approx. 18 months old, when the family was in the process of moving. He broke his femur in half and was in a very similar cast. My SIL had to fly to FL with him in it. They managed pretty well. After the first couple of weeks they actually made something for him to be *propped* into a standing position in. The others are right - accidents happen and she won't remember it. And her mom should NOT beat herself up with guilt over this, as hard as that may seem. I hope (and bet!) she will be doing well, very soon!
