Okay, I could have as little as 3 weeks until I deliver. I'm SO not ready for this as far as "things" go. My dad has ordered my babybed, mom got my bedding and I had a shower this weekend but I still don't feel ready. What absolute necessities do you guys remember for bringing home a newborn? I have some onsies, a few burp rags, and some receiving blankets. I' using my nephew's 4 ozs bottles and have gotten some new nipples for them... I got a case of newborn diapers at my shower and some wipes. What else can you guys remember as necessities???
I don't think I ever felt I had enough stuff lol! I had the things you mentioned plus a bottle brush and a pair of tongs for sterilizing bottles. Binkys. Carseat. When my fist was born I thought I had everything but I didn't have baby bath. For my third who was born in December I was glad for the car seat cover so she would stay warm without me having to fuss with her and a thick sleeper.
No way, Three weeks already?? I haven't had a baby in 12 years, I don't even remember what I had or what I wish I had had. LOL Can't wait..
Diapers!! Lots of diapers! I was nursing, so I needed nursing pads and a nightgown with slits to make night-time nursing easier.
Christy...i can't believe it is time already! With my last, I was most thankful for a couple of new videos and some color wonder markers to entertain the older one for a bit..LOL. My only quick tip was I had 3 crib sheets and waterproof crib pads (like 2ft squares), anyway my boys were both droolers and leakers. So I made the bed with 3 layers, sheet, pad, sheet pad, sheet pad. Then in the middle of the night I could strip one off and have clean sheets. I couldn't put them down on wet sheets and it was very time consuming for me to try to deal with that in the middle of the night. Also I had several baby gowns and socks for my oct kid. It seemed to get a little too chilly for onsies to sleep in, but those sleepers were just way too warm for tx.
Drawstring gowns. Sarah was born in August and it became chilly at night, soon enough in September and October, at least up here in Wisconsin. Drawstring gowns were great for middle-of-the-night diaper changers, since the lightweight sleeper outfits had so many snaps and they went together in weird configurations.
A pump! I didn't have one with my first, and I was in agony when I got home without it.
Thanks Ladies, keep the ideas coming. I'm feeling lost at this point lol.... Bobbie, yep three weeks and we're probably inducing. I go for an ultrasound this Thursday and I'll know more. I'm not able to breastfeed with my issue so pump/pads/ and that sort of thing aren't neccesary but do have to have all the bottle things.
A regular thermometer for taking temps down under!!
A case of ready to use formula. It's just so much easier to have it ready to go when you are tired the first few weeks. I got the pre-filled 4oz bottles.
We loved the little sleeper things that looked like a sleeping bag with arms it was easy to change him (my Nov. baby) in the middle of the night when he was wearing that. It just zipped up and buttoned at the top. Make sure he has a warm hat to wear on the way home from the hospital. When my dd was born the nurse almost had a fit because I didn't have a hat for her to wear home and was all pissy when she had to give me one from the hospital. Don't worry, you and baby will be fine. All he REALLY needs is you, food and a few dozen diapers
