Diapers

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive July-December 2005: Diapers
By Heaventree on Thursday, September 22, 2005 - 08:42 pm:

Cameron pees and poos out of every brand of diapers. I have tried Pampers Stay Dry, Pampers Swaddlers and Huggies. I know a lot of the US Moms use Luvs but we don't have that brand here.

We wake up every morning in a puddle of pee and milk, it's gross. My laundry has tripled, I change his clothes almost as often as I change his diapers and if I'm nursing I usually end up having to change mine as well.

Any suggestions on what to do to keep everything in the diaper? The Pampers Swaddlers seem to work best. I have him in a size one. I have some cloth liners but he's too small for these right now.

TIA

I use the pampers swaddlers on Lauren aren't they great? :) Well, Have you tried putting rubber panties on over his diaper..just a thought off the top of my head. Good Luck. I don't really have that problem with Lauren, she pees small and frequent..lol

I swore by LUVS. Can you order some online?

By Coopaveryben on Thursday, September 22, 2005 - 11:26 pm:

I put mine in premie's for about the first month because of this problem (unfortunetly I didn't figure it out until #2 and #3 were born). They were normal size babies but size 1 was too big.

We use LUVS and never have a problem. I used Pampers with DS and I used Papmers with DD until about 10 months ago. Luvs cost less and work just as well for us that is why I use them.
Maybe you can try to order some Luvs online and see if the work better for Cameron.

I like Huggies Supreme. I've never tried Luvs but have had nothing but problems with other brands, even the regular Huggies Ultratrim's.

I think diapers have changed so much, since mine were little, that I can't offer any useful advice! LOL! I would have liked the papery diapers they have now!

I use the Luvs and Pampers if I have a coupon. I wish you could get them where you live! Natalie wore newborn swaddlers for the first 3 mths., she was so small, and we had no problems. I think the suggestion about the rubber panties is a good idea to try. The few times I've used Huggies I have always had leaks, day or night. Natalie's butt just isn't made for Huggies I guess! :)

Pampers swaddlers or the little huggies are great. Also, is he big enough to use the cruisers? BTW, are you pointing his penis down and fodding the top of the diaper in? These helped with my son. I used Luvs once, and they didn't work for us - nothing like the quality of the papmers or huggies and lots of leaks - so you're not missing anything.
I also used the overnights for my son, which were great.
Extra laundry and a baby that always needs a bath is no fun. I hope you get it figured out.

I always used Luvs for my boys and never had a problem. That won't help you much though, will it? *g* There are SO many more brands of diapers now than when mine were little (haven't bought diapers since 1999). One thing I did do, though, and still do with daycare kiddos is fold the elastic in when I put their diapers on them. So instead of it sticking out and looking ruffley it was folded under to "catch" anything that tried to come out. Does that make sense? I'm not sure how else to explain it, but it really does help. Good luck. I know it's frustrating when those diapers leak, especially if it's almost every time!

I went through the same thing with my DD... especially overnight!!! I tried everything, and the only ones that worked and still do are LUVS!!!! We bought one size bigger for overnight.

Cat, I will try your suggestion. I've been trying to make sure the ruffles were out thinking that would help, but your idea makes sense.

Thanks everyone.

They used to have a product that was like a kotex but with no plastic backing that you put inside the diaper. Of course I cant remember what they are called or even if they are still out there.

By Feona on Friday, September 23, 2005 - 12:31 pm:

That is a good suggestion about buying one size bigger. When ever I had a problem I bought one size bigger and that solved the problem permanently. Love pampers. Huggies was too small... I had a big baby.

By Amecmom on Friday, September 23, 2005 - 12:33 pm:

Thanks for explaining it, Cat. That's what I meant when I said to point his penis down and fold the top of the diaper in.

Is the diaper maybe too big, or too small? Sometimes fit makes a difference.

I run a daycare also and have a 2 month old who wets through to his clothes almost every other diaper and it's frustrating. He's almost 13 pounds and still wears 1's. I think he needs a bigger diaper or different brand. Right now she uses huggies and i loved them when my girls were babies but, they just aren't working for him.I have suggested to the mom many times to try a different brand and told her my sis-in-law had problems with huggies for my nephew and he leaked alot so she tried pampers and they work better for him. She told me they cost a lot more then the huggies and I said but, it would be worth it to have him not soaking through all the time. We will see what she decides to do. My sis-in-law has even had to buy the night time ones for my nephew for bed time.I haven't had to buy diapers since 1994. I think I will try your suggestion Cat next week and see if this helps.
