Splinter out of 2 yo finger?
How do I get a splinter out of my 2 yo thumb? He's not too in to me trying with tweezers... any other tricks? Looking for advice ASAP. Thanks. Amy Mom to Garrett Sept 2003
use a piece of mailing tape, it should be sticky enough to grab it out.
When Kaitlyn had a splinter I just gave her a warm bath to make the skin around the area soft enough and then a few little squeezes got it right out.
I've heard that you can put white glue on it and let it dry and then when you pull it off, the splinter comes with it.
Ditto Melissa I always them out that way to. I have also put a ice cube on it for a bit that gets it moist and alittle numb and it squeezes right out.
If a splinter is small and close to the surface I generally just make sure it stays clean. In my *huge* experience with my splinter-magnet son, they come out on their own within a few days to a week. Any that are larger I just wait till he's asleep and use tweezers.
Somebody mentioned raking a credit card across it once.
I did that once to get a splinter out of my own finger. I could see it, but couldn't grab it, and it was annoying the heck out of me. The credit card got it right out.
My 2 year got a splinter in his finger over the weekend. First thing I did was clean his finger with soap and water and some peroxide. He wouldn't let me go anywhere near it after that and so I just waited until he was sound asleep. I used a sterilized needle and tweezers to get it out and then applied some anti-bacterial ointment on it. In the past if I can't get it out that way, a warm bath usually does the trick. Amy - did you ever get out the splinter?
