Well I did it...

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive July-December 2005: Well I did it...

Thursday was our last night of t-ball... He just hated it so much that there was NO FUN in it at all. When they say they'd rather get a spanking and go to bed then play you KNOW there's no hope. (No I wasn't going to do that, HE came up with that! lol...) He just truly doesn't like it and has no interest in it whatsoever.

I didn't figure it was fair for HIM, the other kids, the coaches, or myself to have every practice be a constant struggle filled with tears. IF when he's older he wants to try it again we'll give it another go, if not that's fine too.

You did the right thing!

Aww, so it was pretty bad, huh? Well, you definately did the right thing, if he dislikes it that much. Plus he is still so small. Katelyn is about 8 months younger than your son, and we are going to attempt soccer this fall, she has been bugging me about it, so we'll see. lol

I think you did the right thing. Maybe in time to come he will enjoy the sport, but for now, just let him do what feels right.

I completely agree with the others. You did the right thing.

I heard t-ball is boring at this age. Wait and more wait.

Soccer is fun.

I agree, don't force it, let him stop. One thing I believe is, especially that young, if they give something like that an honest shot, and they truly hate it, if you force them to continue, they will definitely be less likely to try doing something new in the future. He's young, you have plenty of time to find the right interests/activities for him.
