Marking clothing tags
Hi, I have some baby clothes to lend to a friend but I'm hoping to be needing them myself before too long!! I want to mark the tags so that she knows which ones to return to me when she's finished with them... does anyone know what kind of marker I can use that won't bleed and stain the clothes and won't wash out in the laundry? Thanks.
I use permanent marker to mark the tags and differentiate clothes between my boys who wear the same size. I have never had a problem with bleeding and staining.
They have laundry markers that we used when my mom was in the nursing home, they were called Sharpie Rub-A-Dub Laundry Marker, Will Not Spread or Feather, Permanent, Black Ink we bought them at Walmart or you could just mark the tag with a sharpie marker. I found the regular sharpie works just as good.
Sharpie, hands down! I have always used Sharpie's regular permanent markers.
I used a Sharpie on the Baby clothes let me friend borrow. I just put an AH on all the tags.
I use a Sharpie as well. I only mark coats and hats and boots; things that will get taken off at Preschool. I don't bother marking things that I am handing down to someone else.
When passing things down, just remember some things won't make it back. Accidents happen items get ruined, so hold back the extra special items that you want back.
I never asked for anything back that I let people use as far as clothing goes because I hate having that hang over my head. I actually stopped taking some items from one person because she wanted them all back, and it was for my toddler ds, and to be frank, I was scared to death of messing the clothing up. Some people's dks don't get messy like mine, but I swear, mine can look at dirt and it jumps on them. Not to say that it isn't wonderful of you to loan the clothing out, but just be sure, as Kaye stated, to not send out things you would be devastated to lose because with children, especially babies, you just never know. As a baby, my ds threw up on everything. Bibs did nothing to help it was so bad!
Thanks everyone. I actually didn't plan on lending them out but my niece, though full term, was only 5 lbs 6 oz when she was born and we had a dreadful time trying to find preemie clothes for her, and now my friend has just had a preemie baby so I wanted to spare her the same difficult task. :o) I hopefully won't HAVE a preemie, but want them back just in case I do (or more likely, have a tiny full-term like my sister did). Anyhow, they have been sharpied and delivered and I did take your advice and hang on to the one with sentimental value just in case! :o) Thanks again.
