An early walker?

An early walker?
Since Raya has been born, she's loved to stand on our laps! she just turned 3 months on the 3rd, and now that's all she wants to do is jump around in our laps. A couple of weeks ago, we stood her up on the floor. She heard her grandma in the kitchen, so she turned and took off walking(with me holding under her arms)right into the kitchen! She does this pretty often. She'll find something she wants, and takes off after it. She's been rolling over now for about a month and a few times, she's pushed up onto her hands and knees. I'm just wondering if I'm going to have to start babyproofing my house?!
Oh, and another question, will all this standing and jumping hurt her legs?
Natalie was the same way as far as the standing/walking goes. It seemed her legs were sooo strong from really early on like Raya. She could bear weight on her legs easily and 'walk' with hands under her armpits. We wondered if she would be an early walker, too, but she's 13mths. and still takes 5-6 steps and falls. Natalie rolled onto her side the first weeks she was home and we were like "WHOA!" but then after a few weeks she seemed to just stop doing that for some reason. That's great that she pushes up and rolls over. You've got a strong little girl there!
How cute!! You know, I've heard a lot about baby geniuses doing everything early...including sitting up, rolling over, etc. And, I can't see that there would be a problem with using her legs like that! Sounds like she's having fun!
One of my daughters was standing in her crib at 5 months, and cruising at 6. She didn't actually walk until she was close to a year, but moved everywhere! She had very strong legs, but didn't let go until she was ready. I had to take her to the chiropractor a lot, because she was doing more than her little body was ready for. She's got the longest legs now, at 10, and is an amazing runner!!
Those are actually 2 infant reflexes---the stepping reflex (looks like walking) and the positive support reflex (looks like bouncing or jumping). They disappear typically at about 2-4 months of age. You can do an internet search for more info, I'm sure. They look awfully cute though, don't they?
My ds sounds just like Raya, the standing all the time, walking motions, and all the bouncing and jumping. My family has a history of early walkers so I baby-proofed at four months. He didn't walk until two weeks after his first birthday after all of that. Enjoy the fun things she's doing but I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up doing things right on time.
I had an early walker, at 8 months my middle kid was wallking, by a year he was running and was a pro. It didn't damage him, but he did have the most bow legs I have ever seen. Like he just got off a horse. By age 3-4 that went away on it's own. But we were told it was because he walked so early.
My oldest did every thing very early. She took off walking a week before she was 8 months. It seemed like she wasn't a baby very long. My youngest didn't hardly do anything until she was 7 months and she still ended up walking at 9 months. She was terribly bow legged and we even took her to a specialist. He told us to just make sure she always had good supported shoes on and she would grow out of it by 3-4 and she did.
Ditto on everything said. My DD started walking at 7 months. No trouble w/ bowed legs for her. She was so tiny (she was about a 0-3month size clothes) when she started walking that her weight caused no effect. But a heavier kid could be different. This time round, I am so pleased that DS is not a walker at this time. He just stays put where I put him. It is so much easier. I was so envious of other moms with standard baby skills babies as I was off and running keep track of my still infant. There is a lot to be said for "average age abilities."
My oldest son started walking alone at 4 mons. He could hold onto our havds and walk at alittle over 3 mons. He has never had any problems with his legs or feet. My second and third were walking alone by the time they were 6mons. and they had no problems either. Sometimes they are just ready sooner. The one problem that we did have was that he got into so much! Even the extra two mons my others had on them made a huge difference! Baby proff everything, it can't hurt to be prepared!
My oldest one walked at 13-1/2 months. My younger one walked at 13 months, exactly! They were in no hurry! My girlfriend's daughter didn't walk until 16 months. She didn't have to. She was either being held by mom, or she had two older sisters to do her bidding! LOL!
