What could this be from?
Hailey woke up yesterday with a semi-puffed up eye. I didn't think much of it at the time, I just really wondered what it was from, well all day went by and it stayed swollen a tad bit. Then this morning I looked at her (she is still sleeping now) and it is even more swollen. What in the world could this be from? I don't recall her hitting her eye on anything, but I suppose she could have done it in her sleep. It is not blue swollen it is kind of very light purpleish-pink. I am scratching my head trying to figure this one out...any ideas?
This happens to DD if she gets a bug bite near her eyes. Was she outside a lot? Could it be a bite?
It could very well be a bug bite.
Look real close for a bug bite, that is what I was thinking too. My dd gets this at times, the doc has said that they can't do anything for it unless it stays swollen for more than a few days or it is warm or getting red streaks, all signs of infections.
Ditto the bug bite. My dds and my ds both swell up when they get bit. Esp on the eyes.
There is a small bump on the upper eye lid where the lashes are..I guess that could be the culprit. Thanks I would have never thought of that.
With it being on the lash line, my thought is a sty. I would keep a close eye on it and if it gets any worse, call the ped.

thanks Vicki, I will keep an eye on it just in case and also do the warm compresses.
yes, warm compress should help if it's a sty. try cleaning it out if you can. sometimes they will prescribe an antibiotic ointment if needed.
Freedom had a spider bite on his cheek a few weeks ago and his eye swelled up like that. If it feels hot to the touch, I would suggest cold compresses.I was so alarmed,I called the ped and they told me to give him a little benadryl.
