When do toddlers like covers?
My 22mo DS still sleeps in his crib on top of a fitted sheet. If he and I are snuggling in a real bed, he hates it if the sheets are on him or touch his feet. When do toddlers get used to the idea of using covers when in bed? He'll be cold in the winter! When I picture him moving in to a big boy bed, I picture sheets and a blanket! :0) Thanks for the feedback. Amy
Jade is almost 17 months and has to have her blanket over her when she goes to bed. She will not sleep without it. She has a favorite that she keeps with her all the time.
Christopher is 22 months and he will not cover up either. I go in and cover him at night and he just kicks right back from under it. I guess it just depends on the child. My husband is 33 and still doesn't like to cover up unless he is really cold.
My DD is 3, but for the last maybe over a year will NOT go to sleep without her blanket over her!!! No matter what the temperature outside!
It was some time around the time she started sleeping in a big bed at around 26 months.
I just made the blankets available when they started sleeping in the big bed and eventually they started using them. My son always loved his "binkit" but the girls definitely had to learn to like them.
My kids had covers, even in their cribs. I know now, the word is to not cover them in their cribs, but there was no such thing, when mine were little.
I used covers even in the crib. DD who is 1 sleeps with a cover, she has a Toddler size Pottery Barn Kids Down Comforter with a duve cover on it. She usually ends up rolling around and it's off of her by morning but I cover her up every nite before I go to bed.
Our dd is 6 years old and still kicks the covers off. I just always buy the long dress jammies or the shirt and pant jammies.. That seems to keep her warm, but we have never lived anywhere that was really cold.
My kids are 3, and have used a blanket for the past 2 years or so. Shane usually kicks it off, but gets it back, he's just a wild sleeper like me. They both have fleece blankets from Target, they aren't super soft like some fleece, but they are warm and fuzzy.
Thanks all - I like the idea of at least making one available to him in his crib. He usually throws everything out of his crib... and says... "oh, no!" or "what happened??" Cute! Amy
