What shoes do you buy?
I took Rylee to the doctors on Monday for her 18 month check up and everything is perfect. He did say that she was a little pigon-toed, so buy shoes with an arch. Where do you buy your shoes from? I don't want to spend a lot of money on shoes that she will only where for a few months. TIA
I go to a good shoe store. Shoes for young children are not horribly expensive and if she is having any kind of arch problems (take this from someone who has fallen arches and was a little pigeon toed) you want to get her good shoes that fit properly.
I spend the extra money on Stride Rites. They often have sales, so that helps. I can visually see the difference in her walk when she is wearing their shoes. I bought a pair off ebay that said Stride Rite all over them and on the box, but they did not feel like Stride Rites and most difinitely did not walk like Stride Rites. As much as I hate to spend the big bucks for shoes they outgrow so fast, it is very obvious they are a better shoe.
I also bought stride rites, your feet are worth the money!
Just tell them when you go into Stride rite that you need shoes with the arch support - doctors orders.
I'm not a huge fan of Stride Rites(I know, I'm the only one! LOL!), but if your DD is having trouble, they are supposed to have good support.
I'm with Eve on the Stride Rite shoes. I just think many of them are overpriced, cute, brand name shoes but, if you go in asking for shoes with arch support, you may have better luck.
Timmy wore stride rites until he was 4 and Jade is wearing them now. Just the ful lshoes. She wears sandals from Wal-Marts but if we are going to be on our feel allot she wears he hard sole walking shoes.
Thanks
My kids never had a pair of Stride Rites! Wow, $40 for a pair of little kid shoes? I just usually bought sneakers from Shopko or Walmart! My thing was that if I bought sneakers, they had to be either leather or canvas. I didn't like the shoes made out of man-made materials, because they made my kids feet stink really bad!
Rayanne, If you can wait until Tuesday I'll my physical therapy co-workers what they recommend. I've heard them talk about Stride Rite, but can't remember if they recommend them or hate them because of the hard soles. It may be cheaper to have inserts made. I'll be back at work on Tuesday and will post when I find out.
I have to buy Stride Rite because a lot of stores never have wide enough shoes for Christopher. He has HUGE wide feet.
Thanks Pam. That will be great!!
Huge fan of Stride Rite here. I have all their lives to buy them bargain shoes. Won't spend a lot of money on mine - but on theirs - only the best for their developing feet and gait. My son had such wide feet that ony the Stride Rite ones fit properly. Also, I found that the ladies who work in the store always managed to size my son just right so that I didn't need to buy shoes too often - maybe twice a year. Ame
Well, I went ahead and bought her some shoes form Stride Rite. I bought her some tennis shoes that are so cute. They cost me $44.00!!!!! Chris flipped out!! I figure that if the doctor says she needs them, then I am going to buy them. Here is what they look like.

They are cute!
Girls get some many shoes. I see them buy two pairs of sandels (white and black), patent leather shoes, sneakers, slides, boot for snow and rain. So just stick with one good pair of sneakers like the boys get.
I have a 15month old girl and she is pigeon toed and I jsut bought her some stride rites and have her wear them all the time except for bed and I can see a difference in the way she walks. I paid 18.00 dollars on sale at jcpenney yesterday.
For future reference, Reebox have good arch support as well.
Jeff and Jen both wore Stride Rite's until they were maybe 5 or 6 years old. Jeff is flat footed. Yes, they are expensive, but your baby's feet have to support her all her life.
I found out there are 3 types of Stride Rite stores when dd was little. BTW, I also like Stride Rites. But there is the franchise owned store. The people at that store really try to help. Then there is the corporate owned store and the discount (I don't know who owns this one) and the people who work in these don't seem to give a flying flip if they help you or not. I found this all out when I bought a pair of shoes at a corporate owned store and tried to return them to a franchise store. The girl at the corp store had not measured dd's feet correctly and the shoes were flopping on her foot. I took the shoes to the franchise store and ask the owner to resize her foot and I told her about our experience at the other store. The lady at the franchise store replaced them for me out of courtesy but she told me the whole deal. The people at the discount store are always so rude. And the shoes at the discount store usually have little flaws that the other two stores won't accept.
