Giving up a nap?
Over the last couple of weeks, 11mth dd has given up her afternoon nap about 3 times. For the last 3 days, she's been sleeping in about 1 hr. later than noral, 'til 8 or 8:15. This has in turn thrown off her regular 10am nap. Yesterday she slept for about 30min. in the AM, fine, and today she has just laid in her bed and talked to herself for about 45 min. How do you know when they're going down to one nap? Did you just put them down like normal and they never sleep? I know it could just be a 'few day'phase...prior to this she was sleeping about 1 1/2-2hrs. in the AM and 1 1/2 hrs. in the afternoon, bedtime at 8, woke between 6:30-7. Just wondered when you knew that your kids wanted to give up the AM? TIA
With Connor, he gave up the PM nap for a day here and there. I hear they do give up AM naps around this age. He's still sleeping 9-10:30am and 2-4pm. He gave up his 3rd nap, but sometimes he'll take a 3rd nap if he's real grumpy. He has been known to just talk to himself for an hour in the crib...just playing. I think it's perfectly normal.
I think it sounds like she may be going for 1 nap now. My dd is 17 months and she went to 1 nap about that age. She averages a 2hr nap about 12:30 everyday. If she misses it she drops like a safe at 6! I think it was a bit of a general phase out of the a.m. nap.
