My Mother's Day gift
My dd (5) came home from school today and told me she had a Mother's Day present for me and that she was going to hide it and give it to me on Sunday. Then this evening she all of a sudden said "Mom, i think i want to give you your gift now" So we went to her room and i closed my eyes and put out my hands while she got the gift. As she put it in my hands she said "mommy i am soo so so sorry, i didn't know they would be dead!" It was a bouquet of dandelions that she had picked today at lunch. You know how dandelions look when they are dead? Gross and limp and well, dead. I had a big bouquet of them in my hands. My poor daughter burst into tears! She felt so bad! I just wanted to cry at how bad she felt. I hugged her and kissed her and told her that it was ok and that it was the thought that counts. She then gave me a card she made at school that had flowers on it. So i told her that even if the flowers were alive when she gave them to me, they would have died. The flowers on the card will last forever! I think she felt a little bit better knowing that i was not upset or mad about the dead flowers....weeds.
awww, how precious. bless her little heart. Children are so wonderful, they put alot of thought into things and are so innocent. Katelyn made me a bookmark at church Wednesday night in her class and she was so proud, The teacher asked her what my favorite color was and Katelyn said "My mommie likes all the colors" And she pointed to a clear bead to put on the bookmark, that was "my favorite color" lol. Kids are so cute!
Such adorable stories!!! I remember asking my mom what color was her favorite and she said "purple", so on Field Day at school, I wanted to earn all "purple" ribbons for her!! Ha ha ha...after that, her favorite color was blue!! LOL!
I remember those days! I have save so many cards my kids made. They truly put their heart and souls into making those for us. If it were me, I'd dry one of those *weeds* and keep it pressed with the card. You will always have that sweet, sweet memory!
Karen, that is a GREAT idea!
