Well tomorrow is the big day....

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive January-June 2005: Well tomorrow is the big day....
By Clarabel on Thursday, April 21, 2005 - 10:57 pm:

I'm going in at 11:30 for my ultrasound!!
I am so excited.I feel like I have been looking forward to this for a long time.I can't believe it's 20 weeks already, I'm half way there.
DH is so excited too. His mother is coming over to watch DS so we will be able to have some time together and give all our attention to this one (or these two). The ultasound person at this hospital has never been wrong about the gender in 10 years.I know she will tell me it's one and it's a girl.
If it's twins she should be able to tell,
although I know there are exceptions.
So many people still say I'm having twins,
I will be most surprized if I find out it's one boy.
Whatever happens, it will be nice to see the ultrasound.Oh,I almost forgot to get a video tape.
Did I mention I'm excited?
We were going to go out for japanese after to celebrate, I was really looking forward to that too, but now DH says he has to work so I don't know.
Wish me luck. ( I really want the yaki-soba):)

By Latonya on Friday, April 22, 2005 - 08:08 am:

Good Luck!! I hope it's a girl and only one!!! Let us know!! I am excited for you!!

Thinking of you today:) Let us know the good news!

By Trina~moderator on Friday, April 22, 2005 - 08:10 am:

Exciting! We'll be waiting for details, if you want to share, that is. :)

By Dana on Friday, April 22, 2005 - 08:49 am:

I recall rushing to DH's office (he had to work on my US day) with the news of "BOY!". Such an exciting moment to find out.

We'll be waiting for the outcome, too :)

By Emily7 on Friday, April 22, 2005 - 10:06 am:

Good luck with the ultra sound. How nice that you will get a tape of it, they don't do that here anymore.

By My2cuties on Friday, April 22, 2005 - 02:05 pm:

How exciting, can't wait to hear the news. :)

By Karen~moderator on Friday, April 22, 2005 - 03:20 pm:

Well?????????? Any news??

By My2cuties on Friday, April 22, 2005 - 06:11 pm:

I am sooo curious? Are you going to tell us? :)

By Conni on Friday, April 22, 2005 - 06:56 pm:

I wonder if she found out its triplets and hasnt regained consciousness or something??? Whats up? You cant just leave a bunch of nosey Mom's hangin? :):)

By Kernkate on Friday, April 22, 2005 - 07:33 pm:

LOL Conni:)

By Jelygu on Friday, April 22, 2005 - 09:28 pm:

Lol Conni.. I don't think I would EVER regain consciousness!

By Clarabel on Saturday, April 23, 2005 - 12:35 am:

Ohh, it's so nice that all you ladies care so much.I haven't gotten a chance to post because it has been a very family day.
It looks like one very healthy .....BOY!!!
Ahhhhhh!

I have to tell you that I cried when she said it is a boy and I said,"No, it's not!"
And then I looked at the screen and there was his big wee-wee.

I have had a strange reaction to the news.We did get to go out for Japanese at my favorite restaurant(no sushi of course , but the beef teriyaki was fabulous) and the owner came up and we told her the news and she said ,"Oh,two boy! Very lucky!"
I am glad everything looks good and it was nice to see the ultrasound but my immediate reaction was,"What am I going to do with a house full of boys!" And yes,DH does still play video games.

I had to call all the family and then I took a nap the rest of the day which was great.
I think I'm still in shock.
Everyone is saying how great it will be that Freedom will have a little brother and they can share a room and be boys and all that.
I am starting to get used to the idea, but I wanted another woman in the house, you know,to dress up and go shopping with and just..be a girl!

DH is excited. He will teach them how to do all the guy things, maybe they will build me a house someday.:)

Thanks for going through this with me,ladies.

By Dawnk777 on Saturday, April 23, 2005 - 12:58 am:

Congratulations! A healthy baby is always nice. Sorry it's a boy, when you were hoping for a girl. I can't imagine being the mother of boys, but if I had had one from the start, I'm sure it would have been fine.

I look at cute boy's clothes and sometimes, wish I could have bought them. Little striped polos and khaki pants look so cute on little boys (well, until they get grass-stains and mud on the knees, anyway!)

By Tink on Saturday, April 23, 2005 - 01:43 am:

Clara, I sobbed in the US room when I found out I was going to have a son. I had no idea what to do with a boy. They were so rough and tumble, so loud, so different from anything I'd been like as a kid. I'm sure you aren't the first to react the way you did. Maybe you'll have a niece to be girly with or a friend's daughter that you can "adopt"!

By Kernkate on Saturday, April 23, 2005 - 09:40 am:

its-boy Congrats:)
I had 2 boys first then I had my little girl.So don't give up hope. When they told me with my 2nd that it was a boy I had the same reaction as you. Just be so happy that your pregnancy is going so well and you will have a healthy baby boy:) 2 boys in the house is so much fun!

By My2cuties on Saturday, April 23, 2005 - 10:26 am:

Congratulations. And for the record, I cried for a couple days when I found out I was having another girl. I just wanted one boy and now I won't have any! Then I started thinking how selfish I sounded when there are women that want to have children and can't, but it's hard to think that way when we are only human. I am just happy I am having another healthy baby. Looks like plenty of shopping in my future. :) In the back of my mind I keep wondering if they messed up on the gender and it turns out to be a boy.:) wishful thinking, I know...lol

By Missmudd on Saturday, April 23, 2005 - 11:59 am:

As the voice of experience w/ 4 boys you learn to cope. I also now get some girl time now that my sons are getting older. I didnt look at the sex of any of our babies until #4 when I realized that after 3 little boys a little girl would totally blow my mind. Well #4 had an "outie" too so I have to wait for grandaughters to buy cute little frilly things. I was actually relieved to find out #4 was just like #1, #2 and #3.

By Trina~moderator on Saturday, April 23, 2005 - 01:49 pm:

Congrats!

I agree with My2Cuties. There are many women who are unable to get pregnant and many others who have suffered multiple miscarriages. You have been blessed with a healthy pregnancy. Gender doesn't matter. {{{HUGS}}}

By Bobbie~moderatr on Saturday, April 23, 2005 - 03:24 pm:

Congratulations...

By Imamommyx4 on Saturday, April 23, 2005 - 04:23 pm:

Look on the bright side..hopefully you'll have wonderful dil's.
Sometimes I like my son's wife and or girlfriend more than I like my own kid!!!!!Kidding, sort of.

By Ginny~moderator on Saturday, April 23, 2005 - 04:23 pm:

As the mother of three boys (check their photos in my profile), I can tell you that it has some advantages. Think back to when you were a teenager and doing "girly" things with your mom, like shopping, and maybe you'll think twice about wanting to do that from the other side.

Personally, I think I would have made a terrible mother to girls, and knowing what girl clothing styles have been over the past 30+ years, any daughter and I would have been in battle constantly.

As others above have said - healthy and happy is what counts. I do know what it is to long for a daughter - both of my younger sons were intended to be "Heather". But, my middle son (the only married one) picked out a perfect dil for me, and that's really almost as good. I have the pleasure of an almost perfect almost daughter without having gone through any of the work (and battles).

By Coopaveryben on Saturday, April 23, 2005 - 06:42 pm:

I have three boys too and I don't know what I would do with a girl???? When I got pregnant I prayed that God send us whoever will fit best with our family and he has. I still look at girl clothes and pine a little but I just like the idea of the clothes, cheerleading, gymnastics, hairbows, etc. Because when I am around any little girls or teenage girls I am thankful for my boys.

Congratulations on a healthy happy baby!

By Clarabel on Saturday, April 23, 2005 - 11:19 pm:

I just wrote a whole message and then lost it because I looked at a profile, don't you hate it when that happens?
Anyway...what everyone is saying is so right.
I am lucky to be having another baby.
God never gives you more than you can handle, so I must be a strong enough woman to live with three men .:)
I should have had my fill of all the girl stuff.I grew up the youngest of three sisters and mom was very into all of it, long hair... ballet..pretty dresses. But we were tough too, and we definately got into our share of trouble.
Candis, three girls for you! It's so wonderful.I love the name you picked out."The three graces",my mother used to call us. What does dh think about it?
My mil told me that she had wanted more girls but now she has another daughter(me). That was very sweet. Ginny, dil is lovely.
Now that I've started to accept this, I'm really looking forward to meeting him. When you become a parent, it's just not all about you anymore. It's about going with the flow.
Oh, he's kicking soccer balls in there!
Thanks everyone.

By My2cuties on Sunday, April 24, 2005 - 12:28 am:

Oh DH is in heaven he has 2 daddy's girls right now and to add another one, he is lovin' this! Although I tell him about all the things he is NOT going to like he is still fine with it. He is starting (Yes just now 3 weeks before I am due) to get really excited, he ordered her going home outfit online and is all thrilled. He picked out the name Laura and we compromised on Lauren. :) You would think he would be upset to not have a boy to "carry on the family name" but he is fine with it. Who knows I may have a late bloomer in my mid-30's that's a boy.. LOL

BTW, that is amazing you can feel him kicking already, I didn't feel this baby until I was about 24 weeks. Congratulations again.

By Conni on Sunday, April 24, 2005 - 01:53 pm:

AHHHH! Congrats! As the Mother of 3 boys plus 1 step son who is grown and we never see... You will LOVE having boys. :) There is nothing like the Mother/Son relationship. They tell you how beautiful you are, how great you do EVERYTHING, and show you off to their friends. They can go fishing or hunting with Dad and you can have a weekend alone to relax or you can go along with them. :)

My 5 yo insists he is going to marry me when he gets older. He rubs my back, he has brushed my hair, he asks his Dad to take him to the mall so he can buy something very *beautiful* for me. LOL They are so cool.

I really love having all boys. You will soon see that even tho its a boy- he will be SO different from your first ds that it really wont be the same all over again. Our boys are each SOO different.

By Clarabel on Monday, April 25, 2005 - 05:06 am:

That is the sweetest thing to hear, Conni.
I'm getting all moisty eyes over here.
When DS looks at me and smiles and says, "Beautiful Mama" it is the most precious thing in the world.
I'm looking forward to the back rubs. :)

By Karen~moderator on Monday, April 25, 2005 - 07:37 am:

Raised 2 of each sex, and boys are SO much easier! Plus they are so loyal to mom. You will love your baby no matter what sex it is and it will be special to you no matter what. Congratulations!

By Rayanne on Monday, April 25, 2005 - 09:06 am:

That is awesome news. I want a boy the next time I have a baby. I have heard that boys are easier, like Karen said. She has first hand knowledge though :).

By Jelygu on Monday, April 25, 2005 - 10:04 am:

Congrats! I'm hoping for a girl this time too, but I'm sure I'll have a boy. Like my FIL said, there is too mush testosterone in me and my husband to have a girl. LOL- I'm not the girly, frilly type :)

By Happynerdmom on Monday, April 25, 2005 - 10:14 am:

Congratulations!:)

By Clarabel on Monday, April 25, 2005 - 12:09 pm:

I'll tell you one thing,Jelyqu, whatever you are expecting, prepared to be surprised. :)

By Bellajoe on Monday, April 25, 2005 - 12:59 pm:

My dd was 18 months old when my ds was born. We were SURE it was a girl, although we had a US we didn't find out the sex. But we just had a feeling it was a girl. When he came out a boy, my DH actually laughed saying "oh my gosh it's a boy!" and i was just shocked. I had no idea what to do with a boy. But now he is my biggest fan! THe cuddliest little guy on earth.

Your boys will be best friends. They will always have a playmate!

Congratulations!

By Latonya on Monday, April 25, 2005 - 01:23 pm:

I have 1 dd, 3 ds, and 1 dsd, and let me tell you when girls are little they are fun but when they become a teenagers they are hell. I get so tired of hearing who is hot and who is who's girlfriend. Sometimes they drive me crazy talking about boys. And the older I get the stupider I get. Don't get me wrong I love my girls and wouldn't trade anything for them but they are hard to handle at this age and only get harder for a while. My boys are not that old yet so I guess we will see how that turns out. My DD and I have a great relationship though. She tells me everything. If she has a boyfriend I usuallu know before her friends do and I think that is what drives me crazy. I don't want her to ever stop telling me but I just hate it that my little baby girl is growing up so fast.
