Crib Bedding Question
DS is one year old. We have never used bumpers - read too much stuff about them. He only has his sheet and a crochet blanket in the crib along with a few small toys. When can I give him a proper blanket and pillow? He loves pillows and my mom made him two fleece pillows while she was here, but I'm still parinoid about bedding in the crib. When did you give your dks blankets and pillows?
I gave the pillows when they moved to a bed. I did let them have a blanket at about this age. Your worry isn't so much suffocating, but you don't want them to use stuff in the crib to climb out. Make sure the blanket is small and not too bulky and he should be fine.
Other than their special baby blankets, I waited until they transitioned to a bed (at about 2) for a traditional pillow and blankets.
I used a pillow for my son because he had reflux and he slept better with his head elevated. I used a bassinette sheet as a pillow case which made the pillow flatter and less fluffy so it did not pose a suffocation hazzard. He's always had a blanket. Ame
I used baby blankets and no pillow until they moved to the big boy bed at 2 yrs.
The only time I ever used a pillow in the crib was when my youngest had rsv and I had to elevate the mattress at a slant. I put the pillow under the mattress. Other than that, they got pillows when they went to a big bed.
My dd has a small pillow in the crib that she sleeps with every night- she has been using it since she was about 13 or 14 mos. No problems here!
