Trina--Car Seat Question
Dh and I are looking at trading my Expedition in for a new car for him (one that gets better gas mileage!) and I will be taking his 1998 Dodge Durango. None of the seats I have fit in the 2nd row, center seat. I looked at the database and there are a few listed there that people say fit. One is the Cosco Touriva and another is the Britax Roundabout. We're not looking to do this until June or July, but we don't want to get rid of my car and find out his won't work. I will have one child that will be rear facing until at least late September when she turns one. I do already have a couple rear facing seats, so this center one doesn't necessarily need to be rear or forward facing. I will also have a 2yo (about 30lbs) and then probably 1-2 more kids, between 2-4 (not sure what my enrollment will be after July, but I'm cutting back to 3-4 kids). Then of course my boys. What do you think the best seat would be for me? I have other seats to put in the outboard seats, and they all fit fine. I do know the Roundabout is a lot more $$$ than the Touriva. Thanx for your input. I’m just trying to make sure I can get all the kids in dh’s Durango safely.
Just checked the Compatibility Database and some of the info is conflicting. One person claimed to get a great fit for a RF Roundabout and another didn't. Both were apparently checked by a tech. LOL! The only Cosco Touriva entry I saw was for FF in a 2000 Durango. Does it have the same body style as a '98? Hmmm, a tough call. You can get a Touriva for about $50. Not my favorite but would serve the purpose in your situation. Whatever you get, if it doesn't fit you could return it or exchange for a different seat. Sorry I wasn't much help. I'll ask around.
I saw that about the Roundabout. Wierd! I don't know if the body style is the same or not. I guess I'll have to get a seat and try it. I won't always need a seat in the center position, but there isn't a shoulder belt there, and sometimes I would need the extra seat. I think Wal-Mart has the Touriva for $39. Not bad. I'll check it out. Thanx, Trina.
I looked at the Touriva today at Wal-Mart (Touriva) I'm not going to buy anything yet. They actually had two different ones, one with a shield and the one I posted the link for. I'd have to see how it fits. I wonder if it'd fit rear facing. It says it goes from 5-35lbs rf. That'd be great for the little girl I have if she can stay rf longer. Thanx again for the help, Trina. Let me know if you find anyone with any experience with this seat and a Durango.
