At what age does baby's nap run your own schedule?
Right now, DS is so young, he sleeps whenever and where ever he wishes. so my day revolves around feeding. I remember having my entire day revolving around naps w/ DD. No company to "see baby" during naps, no errands or anything. How much longer do I have my "own time" so to speak do I have left before naps take charge? (hes 7wks)
My day became more scheduled when dd started sleeping through the night. That is when we seemed to fall into a routine. Which is when the nap routine started to happen too. All of that happened between 7 and 8 weeks for her. I remember that so clearly because she was a C section baby and I had to go back to work at 9 weeks. I was so relieved that she started sleeping through the night before I went back to work!
Well, we are at 7 wks and it has been 4 days in a row that DS has slept thru the night. He sleeps thru most of the day too. But we can still go somewhere and let him sleep in the stroller or carrier or arms. I'm sure my days are numbered when he must be at home in his only little napping spot. I do love the more predictable days we have. I can pretty much be sure of feeding times and work my day around that. So much nicer than the first few weeks of having him.
I'm jealous...Connor didn't start sleeping through the night until 4 months. Since then, it revolves around his naps.
Ha- youre jealous...it was almost a year before we ever slept through the night!
Natalie slept through the night at around 10 weeks I think, if you consider through the night 6 1/2hrs, which I did! Now our day feels *totally* arranged around naps, especially since she had trouble between 6-8mths. with 30 min. naps during the day and then being cranky. She's finally gotten better so I don't want to mess up her mojo!!! At least life doesn't feel as regulated by food anymore, which is a big relief. When she was smaller she seemed to sleep anywhere so I didn't think about 'naps' really, just when she would need to eat next.
Vicki, I had a c-section two and Sarah started sleeping through the night at 8 weeks. It was a good thing. I worked nights, half the time, so she was home with hubby. He hardly ever had to get up with her. I also went back to work at about 8 weeks. (She went to daycare, since I needed to sleep, too).
