Another cute kid story
My sil's father died and the funeral is tomorrow. I was telling dd (age 4) that we were going to the funeral. I told her that she may see her cousins (age 17 and 22) crying because their papa died. I told her that she could pat on them and say "I'm sorry your papa died". Without missing a beat, she says "but I didn't do it." I said "didn't do what, honey?" DD replied in the middle of her 'cooking', "I didn't make him die". I'm slow but it took me a minute to realize what she was thinking. She's learned to say I'm sorry for doing something wrong. Lord, I love that child that You gave me. And thank You! She brings so many smiles to my face.
aww, that's sweet. kids are so innocent.
That is so cute,
that is too adorable...thanks for sharing!
Too Funny! Children are a great comfort in times of sorrow. Ame
aww what a sweetie! That is adorable
What common sense comes from children! It just proves how completely inadequate our language is at a time like this. I attended a funeral yesterday for a 20 yr old friend of my dd's - as we were walking toward the family, she asked, "What do you say to a woman who just lost her 20 yr old son?" I told her to just hug her and tell her she's praying for her and how much her son's friendship meant to her. That seemed to be just right.
A 20 yr old young man I work with hung up the phone one day and said "I am such a doofus!" He said that he'd just told his female friend who had lost her gradfather, "good luck". I got so tickled at him I had to stop working. It is hard to say the right thing sometimes. But I like your comments alot. They do seem "just right".
