Stop growing!

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive January-June 2005: Stop growing!

Earlier this school year I had to buy DS (8.5) new jeans because his others were all too short and snug. Guess what, he is growing out of his jeans AGAIN! I noticed DD's jeans are getting short, too. Good grief!

I know how you feel. Katelyn is only 3 1/2 and I am having to buy her a size 5 jeans just to fit her in the length. And a 6 in dresses. :( My baby is growing up!

Yep. We got out the change of seasons clothes and I am always hopeful that some things might still fit, but so far, no such luck! Plus, my older child tends to be a little slimmer in the summer (due to swimming and outdoor play) and a little bit heavier in the winter/spring (due to sitting in a desk at school) She is not too heavy or anything but she is a little pudgy and of course, this is cause of great concern on her part. ****sigh**** Really, it is not a big deal, it comes off every summer but to her, it is a tragedy and she thinks she is "getting fat"! My younger one doesn't care about that though, her deal is something like this: The dress/pants/shirt is pulled out of the "keepers chest" and my younger dd oooohhhhsss and aaaahhhhhsss "I remember that dress!" and then it doesn't fit and I have to help her deal with the disappointment. I swear, I am going to stop keeping stuff. If it doesn't fit one of them, out to the Salvation Army it goes....no more "keeping it to see if it will fit next year" Maybe that works with boys but with girls it is just a lot of drama. Not worth it. Anyway, I see a shopping trip in our near future! :-) Thank God for the coupons here. I am going to investigate!!!!! :-)

Trina, I just bought Kayla some new pants in January that fit her....had to buy them because all other pants have become floods....and already the new ones are floods too! I think she is growing faster than any of the other kids ever did! Thank GOD for capris! And even those are getting too short! Its warm enough here for her to wear them though.

Trina, don't throw the jeans that are too short on her away. You can buy beaded fringe and sew it on to make cute capris.

beaded fringe

Cute idea, Rayanne!

LOL, Rayanne! Cute idea, however, I'm not willing to put the time into sewing on beaded fringe when I *know* she wouldn't wear them like that. She is not into lacy, frilly, fancy, froo froo clothes. Besides the fact the beads would probably drive her nuts. This is the same child who has sock issues. LOL! We'll put her clothes that she has outgrown into the "Sydney box". She loves passing clothes down to her cousin. :)

BTW, I finally found jeans that fit well and look really CUTE on DD. Woo hoo! She's 6.5, but tiny and it's hard to find jeans that are long enough in the legs and fit her bottom and waist, too. Old Navy boot cut jeans - sz. 5 slim with adjustable waist. (Eve, I should have looked into your suggestion earlier!)

DD just turned 4 so we marked her on her growth ruler. She'd grown 5 inches since August.

Oh and I love the fringe thing. DD would love it too. She's the lacy, frilly foo foo girl.
