Emma who is 17 mths old slept last night for the first time in her "big girl bed"! She slept all night and now is taking her nap. She's been in there an hour and a half although I think the first 45 minutes she played in her toy box, but who cares...she's quite and now sleeping. We went straight from her crib to a double bed. I didn't like her transition toddler bed (no guard rail). We put the box spring and mattress right on the floor with a guard rail and she is doing excellent! I'm so proud, but my baby is growing up.

^5, Emma!!! Mom, too. :) It's always nice when that crib to bed transition goes smoothly. :) And I totally understand the "my baby is growing up" thing. I just replied to the bedtime post and thought, *gosh! when did my kids get so old?!?* *sigh* Enjoy her while she's little. :)

When we put dd into a regular full sized bed, we put those Fisher Price guardrails on the bed. She has done great and never fallen out of the bed. They saved her once. She slid off the edge a little and got stuck between the rail and the bed but would would have hit the floor. She screamed and we got her out very quickly. It was a little traumatic but I would so much rather she get caught between a net rail and the bed than hit the floor or night stand or her bed steps and break some body part.

After we put Emily into a toddler bed, around, 2, I didn't think we needed a guard rail, since her toddler bed made a "T" with Sarah's bed (small room in that rental.) However, I did find her asleep once, with her legs hanging off the side! LOL! So, we did put it on for a while. She had quite a cozy nest there, and wouldn't fall off during sleeping, yet could safely get off the bed when she woke up. I don't remember putting her to bed being a big problem, even though she was in a bed.

How did it go in the "big girl bed" today? I hope it was all that easy. I love it when something has the potential to be a problem ends up being so low-stress! :)

She's doing really good at night. We haven't had any problems at all and it's been almost a week. Naps are a little more difficult. She plays around for an hour or so before she falls asleep, and she usually falls asleep on the floor. All that is fine because she isn't screaming or crying or anything, and she's actually sleeping. Yea! I can't believe she's been so great about it. It's really been a blessing.

That's how both of my girls took their naps when they moved in to the big girl beds. I always hated having to sneak in the room when they'd fallen asleep right in front of the door! I'm so glad that it all worked out so easily!

I'm glad that things are still going well.:)
