What time do your dks go to bed??
I was talking to a friend of mine last night and we were talking about the show Supernanny. She said that she watches it with her dks. After I hung up, I realized that this show is on from 9-10pm. Now, her oldest boy is 14, so I can see him staying up this late. But, the other two are 7 and 9. For me, this sounds way to late for them to be up. So, what time do your dks go to bed? My dks are 4 and almost 7. On school nights, we start bedtime around 7:45. This gives my dks time to go to the bathroom, brush their teeth, read, etc., so that they are in bed with lights out by 8:15-8:30. On weekends we let them stay up later and we don't start bedtime until 8:30. However, usually my youngest still asks to go to bed around 7:45. I am really curious after talking to my friend about when everyone else puts their dks to bed.
My oldest is 16 and she goes to bed at 10-10:30. my youngest goes to bed at 9:30 and she is 12. I keep telling them both they need to go to bed earlier but, they say they can't fall asleep until than anyways. My youngest told me this morning that she needs to go to bed eaelier because she ahs been really tired lately. I just looked at her and said, "really". Im bad myself for not going to bed when I should.
My 7yr old goes to bed at 8p and reads til 8:30-9p, my 12 yr old goes to bed 8:30p and reads til 9p and my 13yr old (almost 14) goes to bed at 9p and reads til about 10p.
16 yo at 10 pm, 8 and 11 yo at about 8:30 unless it is survivor night then I let them stay up til 9. 4 yo usually passes out under the coffee table about 7:30, but if not goes to bed w/ 8 and 11 yo.
My 13 year old goes to bed at 10:00. If she can't sleep I don't mind if she reads for a bit. My 11/ 9 and 7 years old go to bed at 8:30, sometimes 9. On the weekends they can stay up a bit later, usually about 10 or so.
My boys are 9 1/2 and 11 1/2 and they go to bed between 8-9 on school nights, lights out at 9 (they can read or watch tv in their rooms). On weekends we let them stay up later.
My 3 yr old takes 2-3 hour naps in the afternoon and then goes to sleep between 9 and 10 pm. My daughter (6) usually goes in for a quiet time by 8 - 9 on certain nights and goes to sleep when she feels like it when we have to babysit the next day but some nights stays up until 10 or 11 pm with me to watch Amazing race or American Idol. Our situation is different because Catherine doesn't go to school so she can sleep in until 8 or 9. I also have the goal of Harry and Catherine learning to listen to their own body to know when they're tired and I don't think bedtimes are great for that. Quiet time works really well for us. But...I'm not sure I could give the kids that freedom if we didn't homeschool.
I am really lucky in that both my kids are pretty good about gaging their tiredness. On average, 16 year old around 10-10:30. The 11 year old's real bed time is 9 in room and read till 9:30, but lots of time she will go to bed earlier if she is tired.
My kids go to bed between 9:30 and 10. They are almost ages 7 and 2. They get up at 6:30 AM to go to school. I WISH they would go to bed earlier, but they won't. They aren't tired either. My ped says "some kids just don't need as much sleep as others." We usually go upstairs at 7:30 and read and play quiet games until 9 or 9:30. When they go to bed I CRASH! I need more sleep than they do! LOL! PS the youngest never even napped as a newborn!
During the week, my 11 year old goes to bed at 9:30. My 14 year old goes to bed when she wants, as long as it is before 11:00.(Sometimes she's up until 11:00, sometimes she's in bed before her brother!)
My 4 and 5 yr olds start getting ready for bed by 7:45/8pm. With the getting jammies on, brushing teeth and reading bedtime books they are in bed by 8-8:15.
The almost 13yo goes to bed around 10-10:30. The 15.5 yo goes to bed around 11. They both get up fine in the morning and are getting good grades, so I'm not worrying about it. I'm bad about going to bed when I should too, but some nights, I'm so tired I just have to listen to my body and go to bed!
Both my kids go to bed between 8:30 & 9:30, they are 15 months & almost 3. My 15 month old takes between a 1 & 3 hour nap each day. They are up by 8:30 or 9.
Hailey (20 months) goes to bed at 9 and Katelyn (3) goes to bed around 9:45, they both still take a 3 hour nap during the day so I know that they are getting enough sleep, they wake up between 8 and 9 am. Dh and I watched a little boy long before we had children and when his mom said put him to bed at 7 we just kind of looked at each other...My sister also puts her kids to bed at 7 and IMO that is just too early.
My kids are 9, 7.5 and almost 4. I tuck them all in around 8:00. The youngest goes right to sleep but the boys usually stay up until around 9:00 or so. They know that is the time their Dad and I want our quiet time so as long as we don't see or hear them, we don't mind if they stay up. They always wake up in the morning for school without me waking them up, so it works out fine.
My just turned 4 year old is in bed usually about 8-8:30, 9:00 at the very latest. He is up by 7:30 every morning no matter what time he goes to bed.
My just turned five year old goes to bed with my eight and a half year old at 8:00 PM.
My kids are all tucked in at 8:00. We start their "bedtime book" (their routine is in a photo album) at 7:30. Then it's Mommy's quiet time. I know that my oldests talk quietly and they are allowed to read in bed but they do not have a tv in their room. My youngest still takes a 2 hour nap in the afternoon. They are all up by 7 every morning except weekends, when they always seem to wake up earlier! They don't stay up later on weekends unless there is a holiday special on tv, and that is only if it is an hour long. My kids are unbearable if they aren't asleep long before ten o'clock.
My one year-old goes to bed around 8-8:15 and sleeps generally until 7. She also takes 2 naps about 1.5 hours each.
DD who is 4 is usually sleeping by 8-8:30, unless we have a nap during the day then its bed by 9:30. And naps are few and far between. She is usually up by 7:30. DS who is 10 is in his bedroom by 9 and usually falls right to sleep. He gets up at 7:30 for school. Weekends he does stay up a bit later.
My 10-year-old goes to bed between 10:30-11 on school nights (up at 7) and later on the weekends (up at 7). The teachers would like him to sleep more, but he's been on this schedule since kindergarten. Prior to that he slept another hour. His bio dad (they never met) sleeps midnight to 5am every day so maybe it's something he inherited. I know I need more sleep than that! If my son were to go to bed at 8 or 9 he'd be up *too* early and would spent a couple of hours on the computer before school - which he sometimes does anyway.
DD's normal bedtime is 8 (22 months old) but lately she's been wanting to go to bed at 7:30, which is *fine* by Dh and I, lol! After DD goes to bed DH and I have a routine to lay of the couch together and watch a movie then go to bed so the earlier she's in bed the earlier we start the movie. DD is usually up between 6:30-7 am. And she naps for about an hour during the day.
DS is 11 months and goes to bed between 7:30 and 8:00. He still has 2 one hour naps per day. I find the earlier I put him to bed the longer he sleeps. We were putting him down at 9:00 and he was waking up at 4:00 a.m. Now he sleeps until 6:00 or 6:30, which is a great relief.
My 10 and 5 yr old both go to bed at 8pm on school nights. On the weekend, its a little more flexible, but never later then 9pm. My 6 month old usually is in bed between 8-9pm
Timmy's 2 1/2 and he's been going to bed at 7pm since just about forever. He gets up at 6:30am on the weekdays and 7 or so on the weekends. He also takes a 2 hour nap during the day. I'd checked with our ped because I thought for sure he was sleeping TOO much. She just laughed and said be glad he's a good sleeper. He's just fine.
Bedtime routine starts at 7 with bath, books, etc. In bed by 8. 15 months.
We start bedtime with my 7 year old at 7:45,he is usually asleep by 8:30, my 9 and 11 year olds tend to be asleep by 9:30, sometimes a little earlier. We get up at 7:15 in the mornings. On weekends my older two will stay up usually till 10 or 10:30. When my kids were little and we didn't have school, they all stayed up later, we slept in until 10 so it worked well. I used to have a lot of guilt friends with kids in bed by 7 or 8. But they also got up at 6 am. Well when I started looking at how many hours of sleep they were getting it dawned on me we just lived a very different life. My dd to this day needs 10 hours of sleep. If she stays up until 1 or 2 am, she will then sleep 10 hours. We just adjusted to that. I used to a night owl, so it was okay.
whatever time they go to sleep...alex sometimes watches super nanny with me but not very often...
My 5 yr.old and my 8 yr.old both go to bed between 8-8:30 on school nights. My 18mth old goes to bed around 10:30. I can't seem to get her off that scedule! On the weekends the kids usually stay up between 10-11. Sometimes they ask if they can stay up as long as they want on the weekends, when I let them do that they still conk out by 11 I'm a night owl and don't usually go to bed until 12:30-1:30am.
Rylee goes to bed between 8:00 and 8:30 most nights. There are times when it's 9:00 or 9:30 before she's in bed.
My kids are 6 & 8. Bed time on school nights is 8:30. Non school nights 9-9:30.
My DD goes to bed at 8 on school nights & is up at 6:30 for school. My DS lives with his mom during the week. But on the weekend we usually let them go until they are tired or 10 - whichever happens first. My DD is a bear if she goes to bed any later than 8 - she's 7, soon to be 8. But, DS could go to bed at midnight & be up at 6 ready to solve the world's issues. LOL
My 1y yr old goes to brush his teeth at 8:30, and is crashed out by 9, my 11 yr old is coming to give me a hug and kiss at 8:00 because she is tired and going to bed. They both get great night sleeps and usually wake just before their alarm clocks are ready to wake them for school. Like I read from one mom...Survivor night is a whole different story, but they are both in bed right after the shows credits. I just found that if you guage how they are feeling in the morning, you can set a perfect time for them to be going to bed so that they will be at their best the next day. If always tired for school, obviously bed time needs to be a little earlier. If they are waking up at 5 in the morning to shower for school, then bedtime should probably be a later than it already is. All kids are different and need a little more or a little less sleep. They are your kids, just watch them.
that is my 13 year old brushes his teeth at 8:30, a 1 yr old would be pretty impressive though
My 3 year old and 6 year old go to bed at 7-7:30 p.m., my 8 year old goes to bed at 8 p.m. and 10 year goes to be at 8:30 p.m. with my 10 month old going to bed at 8-9 p.m. My 3 year old takes a nap 1-2 hours most days and baby takes 2 naps. We get up at 6:10 am for school. Bus comes at 7:10 a.m. I try to keep the schedule of bed times on the weekend as we are all exhausted come friday from the early morning.
good point about the weekend and the same bedtime...without that, it is so difficult to get back into the swing of things on Monday
OK, I am the weird one here...my kids are 1,3&5. They go to bed at 6:00- 6:30-school nights. Non school nights, we party until they are out. Unless, of course, we want time together.
After the summer holidays my son (6) was going to bed at ten, he carried on like this until the Christmas period until i decided to stop it. It wasn't his fault, it was mine because i couldn't get organised to wake up early (he starts school at 9.15 so we don't really need to wake up that early) and to put him to bed early. But i finally managed to do it. And now goes to bed at 8.30 and sleesps all through the night!
My 18 mo old goes to bed at 8pm. My 3 and 5 year olds go to bed at 9pm.
8pm for both (5 and 3 y/o). I need time alone w/dh in order to keep my sanity. When they are older they will be allowed to stay up in their room until 8:30. But, they will still need to be in their room at 8. They can read until lights out. I always had to go to bed at 8pm. In highschool I stayed up till 9, but had to be in my room doing something relaxing. Sleep is so important for kids. Especially school age kids. I've worked in the school system and you can really pick out the kids that are sleep deprived.
