Croup????
My neighbors little girl has croup. I was watching her yesterday- she apparently already had it and now my dd is running a fever and is very cranky...is this how it starts??? We have had relatively no sickness in her 15 mos until we started spending time with this little girl...Not blaming her, just frustrated with multiple sicknesses lately! Any suggestions for ways to nip it before it happens? p.s. She also seems to be cutting another tooth and she always runs afever when she does. So I am hoping for just that but expecting the worst! LOL
Croup is pretty unmistakable. It is a cough that sounds like a terrible bark!! Dd had it one time as a baby and she had no other symptoms other than the bark. She started with it through the night and I called the ped first thing in the morning and they had me bring her right in. They checked her and said it was croup and gave me a script for a one time medicine. I got it filled on the way home and was to give it to her as soon as we got home. That was the end of it. I guess it was something that can only be given in the first 12 hours of it starting or something?? I have no idea what is was as that was about 10 years ago, but she never coughed again!! That was the only time she ever had it.
My kids both had croup a few times as a young kids. It is an unmistakable cough and could bring me instantly out of a deep sleep to run into a steamy bathroom with the coughing kid. It almost sounds like a seal barking.
Thanks- so far no cough- so hopefully just alittle virus or teething!
Croup itself is not contagious- but the cold is. You will know if she gets croup. Usually hits in the middle of the night and sounds like a seal bark. DS #1 gets it with EVERY cold. He's almost 8- so we've had a lot of croup!
