Britax companion infant seat
Trina, We are starting to look for the new baby a seat and going to buy within the next few weeks (just incase) and I wanted to know what you thought about this particular seat verses others. TIA
The Companion is a very nice seat. As a CPS Tech, I've been able to see it IRL and play with it a little. If I were pregnant I'd be tempted to get one, but truthfully, babies aren't in infant carriers very long, so I don't think I could justify the cost. I'd rather spend more $ on a convertible seat that will be used for 3 or 4 yrs., as opposed to an infant seat that's typically used 6-12 months. KWIM? The Companion does have features other infant carriers don't have, such as higher weight and height limits (4 - 22 lbs. and up to 30"), an anti-rebound bar, built-in lock offs, EPS foam, inflatable/adjustable head rest,... Oh my, very tempting! LOL! I recently bought a Graco Snugride with 5 pt. harness and front harness adjuster for $90 at babiesrus.com. I think they even have a $10 off promotion going on right now. Which Convertible Carseat do you think is the best: Roundabout, Marathon or Wizard? I will most likely buy one of these and use the infant carrier (whichever one we decide on) for the first few months. Any suggestions. I am assuming since my girls reached 20 lbs. by the time they were 4 months that is when we will make the switch (from carrier to convertible) with this baby also. Thanks for any suggestions you have.
Candis, all three are great seats. It depends on what your needs or wants are. The Roundabout harnesses to 40 lbs.. The Marathon and Wizard both harness to 65 lbs., but the Wizard has side impact protection head wings. I know several people who own Marathons and love them. Because it harnesses to 65 lbs. it's more bang for your buck. Especially good for kids who weigh more than their peers or who or long torsoed. They tend to grow out of traditional car seats (harnessed to 40 lbs.) before they're mature enough for a belt positioning booster. Britax Roundabout Britax Marathon Britax Wizard There is a new Britax convertible in the works called the Decathlon. No details or dates as of yet. HTH
