Trina...
I am in the market for a new car seat for my DD who is 4 and 35-40. What would you recommend? TIA
Do you feel she's mature enough to sit properly in a belt positioning booster (no wiggling, sitting out of position or pulling on the shoulder belt) or would you prefer her to be harnessed longer? Does your vehicle have lap and shoulder belts? ALL boosters require both a lap and shoulder belt.
I think she is mature enough for the belt booster. Our vehicle does have lap and shoulder belts. Thanks
There are many belt positioning boosters to choose from. Typically high back boosters are more comfortable and offer better sleep support. Backless boosters are safe as long as the seating position has both lap and shoulder belts and head support (ie: head rest or high seat back). My kids ride mainly in high back boosters but we use backless boosters as spares or for carpooling, etc.. When shopping be sure to read the labels. They have different height and weight requirements and limits. Some are more padded than others. Some offer different cute covers. Personally, I look for ones that are comfortable for the child and that THEY like. Very important! Of course if you have a child who is tall look for a booster with a higher height limit. Be sure to keep the booster buckled in when not in use so that it doesn't become a projectile during a crash. Here are some examples. There are many more to choose from on the market.
