My baby daughter has a area on her gums that is black/blue!!!
I noticed Saturday that my 7 month old dd has an area that looks like a deep bruise on her upper gum Think of where the 2 front teeth are and slide over one to the right and that is where it is. She has only cut 1 tooth (front bottom left). I do not see signs of tooth coming thru and if it is I find it odd that its the tooth NEXT to the front tooth on the right side. She is in no distess whatsoever. I read where it could be what they call and "eruption cyst or hematoma" for when a tooth is getting ready to pop thru, but I see no tooth! I started giving her Zwieback teether biscuits last week (she loves them)..I wonder since she gnaws on them on that side if it caused a bruise??? Any help would be appreciated or if anyone has had this with their little ones. I am reluctant to call the Pediatrician about it since it isn't an emergency.
Call the pediatrician. If your daughter fell she could have bruised and even killed the tooth that is trying to come in. Better to be safe than sorry. When my ds was 3 he had to have his front tooth pulled because it had died, he thought he could jump from the top bunk to the dresser.
My dd had a place on her gums that concerned me but it was mostly white, and a nurse told me it was a tooth coming through and sure enough it came through later. I would call the pediatrician, sometimes we, as mothers, need a little reassurance. I suppose it could be from her chewing on those toasts those are hard. Good LUck.
Rylee had a bruise on her gums too when she was getting her molars. You could not see a tooth, but the area was swollen a little. She had cut a molar on the other side, so I knew that they were coming in. I did call my pediatrician, and he said that everything was fine. I'm sure that is everything is fine with your DD too. If you want, call your pediatrician just ease your mind, that's what they are there for.
We have a daycare child who has this when she is getting teeth also. Her doctor said it was nothing to worry about. It was funky when I first saw it though!
This happened to my son when he got teeth too. You couldn't see a tooth coming either.
This also happened to one of my DD's (horrible because I seriously CANNOT remember which one!). You couldn't see a tooth. The doc said it was just a bruise "Hematoma" acutally. She was just fine nothing to worry about! I would get it checked out by the doctor ,you can't be to cautious and it will put your mind at ease!
