Speech
Is it normal at DD's age for her to start adding an "S" at the end of most things she says? I'm having a brainfart and can't pinpoint a specific word at this point but DH and I have both noticed it and I want to make sure its normal.
I think most kids develop some little "tweak" that they give language around 2yo. A friend's daughter had INCREDIBLE language but always said "my" instead of "I". My youngest is just getting over a stage of adding the "ee" sound to many words. I always repeated what she said correctly so it was being modeled the way I'd like her to speak but, otherwise, didn't make an issue about it.
One of my ds always used "hut" if he didnt know the word hut donals (mcdonalds) hut mars (fred meyers. He grew out of it, modeling the correct way is the way to go.
Don't make a big deal about it. But say the correct thing, too. For example if she says "I want to my doll aways", you say "OK, let's put your doll away." She'll listen and it will stop. It's just a phase. My 3 yo (almost 4) goes thru phases. I think she hears other kids saying things and thinks it sounds cool.
Here is a good web site concerning Speech and Language Development.
Okay, I thought I had read before about the changes in speech but you reassured me it's normal Thanks! And thank you Trina for that link, it has a lot of good information.
It is very normal. My DS always says "carry you" instead of carry me, and everyone is a him! LOL
When dd first started talking everything edible that could be held in her hand was a cookie. She would point and ask for a cookie and I'd say "do you want this cracker?" She learned. This too shall pass.
