Don't run or walk down stairs with hands in pocket
Just a quick note to the kids. I watched one get off the schoolbus yesterday while I was dropping mine off, he was coming down the stairs of the bus with his hands in his pocket (it was cold). He tripped and fell. Since his hands were in his pocket, he: 1. Was not holding on to the rail 2. Could not put his hands out to stop himself. He landed on his face on the concrete. It was pretty bad. I see the kids do this all the time. Hands in their pockets while they go down the bus stairs. Add to this balancing overloaded bookbags, and it just spells disaster.
Thanks for the reminder, Mary! I'll have to talk to my ds about it.
This reminds me of a time when ds was just a toddler and we had been swimming. He was cold and I had him wrapped up in a towel. He tripped, and just the same, fell face forward into the concrete since his hands were not free. Poor little guy! His bottom teeth went through his bottom lip. Off to the hospital... Luckily the mouth stops bleeding pretty good on it's own. ! MAJOR *bad mommy moment.* Lesson learned! (the hard way!)
Poor kid. Thanks for the tip!
Wow...one of those things that make PERFECT sense that you never think about until after the fact!! I am going to have to watch dd to see if she does this....I don't think she does, but you can be sure I am going to watch!!
OUch! I have no idea how my kids got off the bus, but no one ever got hurt, so maybe they did hang on to the railing.
