Ready for the potty?

Ready for the potty?
My dd just turned 20 months. We have had a potty chair for 2 months that we have played around with before bath time to try to avoid fear of the potty for when it is time. Over the last few weeks dd has learned the words potty, pee pee and poo poo. Today dd took of her pajamas and ran toward the gates tugging at her diaper. She pointed upstairs and said potty. Her diaper was wet when we got to the potty. The other day when she woke up from her nap she was saying potty. When I went to put her on the changing table she freaked out. Her diaper was dry but when we went into the bathroom to potty she just wanted to play. I am not really sure what to do. I know that she is pretty young for potty training. I like that she is interested but I am not really sure if she is ready. On one hand, I think that I should take advantage of her interest before she becomes stubborn. On the other hand, I worry that it will end up frustrating both of us. Is she ready? Please help!
I would give it a try, just dont make it too intense. If it doesnt work out it doesnt work out. Try play acting w/ one of her dolls. Girls sometimes train much earlier than boys. I think since she knows when she's wet and it bothers her is a good sign that she will be able to make that leap to knowing before hand and going on the potty. GL
I have to agree, just try it and maybe she's ready and maybe not. My oldest was potty trained by 20 months and it only took about a month. My youngest was a lot older.
My youngest was always finicky about a wet diaper and having everything clean. She potty-trained at about 22 months. I think she was ready before then but I wasn't even thinking along those lines yet. Give it a try, keep it low-key and let her take the lead. Maybe keep the potty chair somewhere that is more accessible to her so that she isn't wetting her diaper before she can get to it.
My dd is almost 19 months and is saying "poo-poo". She tells me when she has a dirty diaper (one night at midnight she was up and having a hard time sleeping and I just thought she was telling me she peed, so I told her I would change it in the morning. Needless to say, she woke the next day with a dirty diaper!), but she also tells me after she has gas--I don't think she always knows the difference. She will pee on the potty, but not always. I was thinking along the same lines as you, though--thinking it is too early, but ready to give it a try if she is ready! Good luck.
Thanks everyone. I think that we will give it a try. I'm going to wait until after Thanksgiving though since we will be traveling all next week. She's my first so an advice will be welcomed! Thanks again!
