Online printable dictionary???
I've been searching for a free printable dictionary for my 1st grader. I found one, but I had to pay $20 to join the site. Thanks for the help.
For that price you could get a decent dictionary from Amazon. Did you know that Amazon also sells used books? When they show you the info about a book, they usually list both the price new and a price range for used copies. You'd still have to pay shipping, but I'll bet you could get a really good dictionary for your child for between $10 and $15. I see the DK Merriam-Webster Child's Dictionary starting used at $10.99, the Merriam-Webster's Elementary Dictionary new at $10.85, and the Scholastic Children's Dictionary (Revised and Updated) starting used at $6.49. Here is the link to my search results: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search -handle-form/ref=s_sf_b_as/104 -8398373-4210311 (take out the spaces I put in before two hyphens so that the link wouldn't stretch this post) If you decide to buy from Amazon, I suggest you decide on exactly the book you want and get the ordering information and then go through the Amazon link at the top of the Momsview web page. You may be able to get a discount and the MV board gets a "click through" credit, which helps pay for the expense of keeping the MV board operating.
Thanks Ginny.
would dictionary.com help?
http://www.enchantedlearning.com/Dictionary.html I think this is what you want. I don't see a charge.... Printable dictionary kids
Feona, that was the site that you need to pay $20 to join membership. It had what I needed, but not for $20. Mrsheidi, I didn't see anything printable, it all looks like online look ups. Actually I guess it is not really a "Dictionary" that I am looking for. I am looking for appropriate list of words for 1st graders that are in alphabetical order in bood format that DD can use to look up correct spelling when we do her writing sessions. She has a really nice one at school, but that needs to stay in her class room. I'm trying to get her used to using it to find words to improve her spelling for others to be able to understand what she writes.
Do a net search for 100 sight words, or a dolch list.
