Bye Bye Bee-bah
Last night my son willingly gave up his ten bee-bahs (pacifiers)! I tried the other day to just let him sleep with one. What a disaster! He refused his nap and had me up 5 times that night. He likes to suck on one, but he really likes to hold them. He reaches out to grab or hold them in his sleep. When he couldn't touch them, he'd wake up. Yesterday, I asked him if he'd give up his bee-bahs so Thomas and some trains could go to bed with him. He said, "Sure" I know, I really set myself up for a night of him up 'til one, playing. My husband said that this was probably the worst parenting move I've made in my son's life. I really wanted him to give these things up, but I wanted to replace them with something he loves equally. Well, he went right to sleep with his trains in a pile where his pacifiers were. He slept the whole night!!!! No problems. No playing! I checked on him and found his trains in the same spots where I used to find his pacifiers. I am so proud of him! Ame
Great job!
Great job! That's a huge milestone! Congrats!
Thats great!!!
Great news! I don't think it was a bad parenting move at all.
Cute awesome job mom = )
Sounds like it worked out quite well!
YAY! I don't think it was a bad move either!
That's great!
No, in retrospect, it turned out to be a good move. It even has perks!! This morning, instead of calling for me right away, he played in his crib for 15 minutes!!! So far, so good ... Ame
I'm happy for you...but I think having the trains in his crib at such a young age is a choking hazard. Especially since the trains are replacing a sucking item.
No, they are not. As I said, he wanted something to hold more than suck. I'd really like to see the size child who could get a plastic Tomica Thomas train in his mouth - let alone choke on it! Thanks anyway for your concern. BTW - My post says nothing about his age, but he will be three in December - a little old for putting toys in his mouth. Ame
Ame, my post wasn't intended to pick at you. Sorry you read it that way. I'm glad things are working well for you
That's okay, I guess my post partum hormones are making me a little sensitive ... I'm actually more afraid he will roll over on them and end up with a Thomas shaped bruise ... . Ame
