Need Ideas for teaching religion class

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive July-December 2004: Need Ideas for teaching religion class

Hi, it has been quite some time since I've visited, but I thought I'd get some good ideas here.

I am teaching Catholic religion class to second graders and I am just not making it with these kids. I was hoping for some helpful hints.

My class on Tuesday is all about the Holy Spirit. Does anyone have any activities, games or crafts that would help me teach while keeping the kids' interest? I would Really appreciate it. Maybe you know of a good website? That would be of help too.
Thanks, Robin

Are your students preparing for their First Holy Communion this year?

By Robin on Friday, October 15, 2004 - 12:52 pm:

Hi Kay. No, they will make that in the second grade. We will learn about the Eucharist and Penance but more is done next year.

Robin, What teaching manual are you using? I am teaching Kindergarten and we are using the Faith First program. If you go to their website their are all kinds of activities that go with the Faith First books, but there are also additional activities and they are geared toward grade levels.

Thanks Fraggle. We are using Coming to Jesus. It has a website but it isn't great. I did some searching and found a bunch of good sites (if anyone else needs them, I'd be happy to share).
Thanks again.
