Help Carseat Question!!

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive July-December 2004: Help Carseat Question!!
By Theresa_Momma on Tuesday, October 5, 2004 - 12:18 am:

I was givin a cosco convertiable seat for a baby gift. I was also given a graco infant seat, I am using the graco right now because ds is only three months old. Although he gaining weight very fast and I am getting worried I may have to start using the cosco soon. The problem I have is that it has a sheild. I have been reading that they are unsafe. This one has not been recalled or anything just unsafe. I would have taken it back, and got just a five point harness, this one only has a three point with the sheild, but dh, or dummy husband threw the box out one day while I wasn't home. I don't know what to do now, do you think its okay to use or should I spend the money and get a different one? My other problem is that my best friend bought me the seat, it was quite an expensive gift, so when she sees that I am not using it what would I say, and what do I do with this brand new seat that I will never use? Thanks for any help anyone can give me!!

Do you have the receipt? I would take it back, even if you don't have the box. Just make sure the instruction manual and everything else that came with the seat in intact. Exchange it for a 5 pt. harnessed seat. Tell your friend that you read 5 pt. harnessed seats are the safest. It's the truth! :)

And if they can see that it has never been used take it in and they will give you store credit probably and buy the new seat from them too. Call and ask what their return policy is or like Trina said ask your friend if she still has the receipt. Be honest it is you childs safety you are talking about.
