How long did you use your swing?
My son is 3 mo and uses the swing but we are ready to move to Maryland and since we borrowed the swing from someone and have to give it back, then I'm wondering if we should invest in a new one? (Run on sentence...DS is waking from a tummy nap...)
I have a 6mo daycare boy that's about to outgrow the swing. He's starting to sit up and lean forward in it. He outgrew the bouncy seat a couple months ago. Unless you plan on having more kids, I wouldn't spend the money, that is, unless you can get one dirt cheap at a yard sale! lol jmho, of course.
I agree, unless you are planning on having another baby I wouldn't buy a new one. If you use it to hold him while you are doing something you can get a bouncer/rocking chair from Kmart. It is good for infants & toddlers.
I used it till Rylee was 8 months old
Wow, 8 months! That's pretty good! We only used the swing until around 5-6 months, as soon as DD could start to sit up when you shouldn't use it anymore. I wouldn't buy another one, unless your DS really loves the swing. You could always check at a consignment shop too.
Thanks gals! I'll probably invest in one since I'll have another one down the road. My DS loves to nap in it twice a day too. I'll probably get the kind of swing that goes both ways since he won't swing forward/back...gets fussy. Thanks again!
I have the Fisher Price Aquarium series swing. It is wonderful and DD takes her afternoon nap in it everyday, she loves it. I bought it used from a friend otherwise they are $100. I know you can find one at a consignment store like Eve suggested, i've seen them there. The other items we use all the time are the vibrating bouncey and the Fisher Price Jumperoo.
From what I understand, you are only suppose to use them until the baby can sit up unassisted. For us, that was about 6 months old. But, if you are planning to have another baby, then I guess it could be a good investment.
DD used hers up to 6 or 7 months and then didn't want to be in it anymore.
It really depends. My oldest would be in hers until she was about a year (there is a weight limit of about 20 pounds), my youngest started pulling himself out of it at about 5 months. This same kid is 6, a small 6, but would crawl in a baby swing in a minute if he thought he could get away with it!
Brendan used his from the day he came home from the hospital (he was so tiny...) until he was just about walking.
Oh my! My ds loved his swing more than anything. He used it till after he was a year old. It was at the point that we had to literally push it with him in it till he went to sleep because he was too heavy for the automatic thingy to work right. His feet would drag the floor a little, so he started pulling his legs up just a little and leaning them against the tops of the leg holes. So we placed a blanket there for his comfort. We finally had to sneak his swing away when we had been gone out of town for a few days without it. My husband snuck in the house and took the swing into our bedroom and shut the door so our ds wouldn't see it and want it again. To this day, he still LOVES swinging. He had one of those kinds you hang from a tree or something outside and buckle the kids in and push them till just the end of this past summer!!! He is now five! We finally talked him into a big boy swing. The child would swing all day long if you let him. I have never seen or heard of a child who loves a swing more! As long as she loves her swing, let her have it. It won't harm her as long as she isn't trying to climb out. My ds would never have dreamed of trying to get out on his own. We had to make him when he did! LOL!
My dd used a swing till about 7-8 months old, she started trying to climb out and that's when I broke it down and put it away, I'll probably be bringing it out again soon.
