Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive July-December 2004: Such a sad day for mom...
By Ladypeacek on Tuesday, September 7, 2004 - 02:17 am:

DD started 4th grade today...i was walking behindher out the door to get her to the bus stop and she turned to look at me and asked where i thought i was going! I told her to walk her to the bus and she just looked at me and said "ohhhh no your not...what on earth are you trying to do to me..this in NOT elementary mom this is intermediate school and i am not having mommy walk me anywhere..now please just go back in before someone sees you." then she turned and left...:( what is a mother to do????

Don't feel so bad, I did that to my Mom when I started Kindergarten-can you imagine! LOL:)

I agree with Kate.
I can't believe 4th grade is intermediate school, it is 7th - 9th here.

Kenna, my Brett who is in 4th grade this year is the same way Mr. Independant. Guess its all apart of growing up. DS Tom who is 18 was the same way at that age.
Hope she has a good day:)

I'll never forget when my mom made me wear a Sesame Street raincoat and boots. I forget what grade it was (maybe 2nd?), but I remember pounding on the door to have her let me back in the house because I was so embarassed. I refused to walk to the bus stop so I just sat on the porch and cried!! My mom must have been so sad to realize I was growing up! She must have cried too!! She still calls me her baby...it's very endearing now.

Wow, where I am intermediate is 6-8.

How cute!

Yes, it is sad to see them grow up but I feel a sense of pride as well. Way to Go, Mom! Glad your daughter feels so confident in herself. That comes from good parenting. Good Job. AJ

It's so hard to let them grow up. My DD's are 6th and 10th and it's still hard to let them be so independent.

It sure is hard. I thought since my son didn't know anyone since we just moved here that he would want me to go to the bus stop with him.
Boy was I WRONG!! He has made new friends in no time and I can't believe he is the same kid who 2 a month ago was crying and soooo worried he would not like it here!!
