BTDT? DD took first steps last week and now stopped
My dd starting taking her first steps last Monday and we were soooo excited. She's 11.5 months old, and I know she has plenty time and she's not slow or anything. I just don't get why she stopped. We would put her standing in front of us and she would walk to us, but now when you try she won't stand up. She sits down and gets aggravated. She is still cruising and walking with a push toy, but she stopped walking on her own. Has anyone ever gone through this?
I think it was a short while before my kids felt comfortable walking everywhere, in the beginning. They would walk some, crawl some, etc. If they felt they might get knocked over, then they wouldn't walk. Eventually, she will be walking like a pro. For my kids, it was a little hit and miss, for a bit. (Mine are 12 and 15 now, though, so memory might be a little hazy.)
My oldest son walked before he crawled. He took some steps and then decided he'd crawl instead. He didn't walk again for another 4 mo.
she's starting up again!! Thx everybody
Very normal for them to do it one day and not again for another week. I could wait till my daughter took her first steps.. Now I cant keep her in one spot....
Bumped up... bc she's not walking at all now and her birthday is Thurs. I know she can bc she has. How can I give her the confidence to just do it?
As hard as it may be, I would just let her do it when she is ready. My DD was always cruising along furniture at a vey early age and everyone said she would be an early walker. Well, she didn't start walking really until age 15 months. It will happen. I don't think it has much to do with confidence. She's still pretty young. Just hang in there and try not to force it. With my DD, whenever I back off, she decides to go for it. LOL!
It's normal. Her little brain is probably just busy working on something else right now. She's already done it, so you know she can. She will do it again when she has the time to think about it again. Guess she sees she does fine w/out for now and will worry about it later. Imagine how much learning is taking place in those little heads of theirs.
Dana, that sounds just like her actually. She knows she can do it and has other stuff to worry about LOL. Thanks a lot!
